Plugin Subscriber Box Plugin? Need help

Hi guys I just came about the website: www.socialtriggers.com , and they said a great way to increase your subscriber base is to put a sign up box on the page.

Here is the picture from SocialTriggers:

The one I found was: http://plugmatter.com/feature-box , but unfortunately it requires over $40 to use (money which I don't want to invest for a little plugin). Do you guys know of any plugin boxes that are free and great to use, or any other alternatives?

Any help would be appreciated.

Jetpack includes something similar to this if you're wanting a subscriber bit where people can receive updates instantaneously.

Jetpack is too bulky and huge. I'm looking for something lightweight and just for that option only.

I was using wp opt-in it was working fine till wp version 3.1, but after the latest wp release its been stopped working as it was not updated in over 2 years. So, I just bought "hybrid connect", because some times we all have to take tough decisions.

I just checked it out, it looks really awesome but $50..

. Wish there were leaked copies somewhere out there.

FeedBurner is a great tool to use if you want people opting into email updates, of your new posts. It's absolutely free.

Thanks, I'm using feedburner at the moment, but the thing with it is you can't e-mail your subscribers unfortunately.. And it requires a verification email which kinda sucks.

I want to be able to offer my e-book via a sign up. (Using mailchimp/aweber etc.) That's why I can't do that via feedburner.

If you inspect element you will see it is made with AWeber Web Form Generator 3.0

Thanks, I don't use Aweber unfortunately. Trying to look for a plugin to code my sign up forms. Or somewhere I can copy and past html.

Plugmatter also offers a free light version for their feature box plugin. You can search for it in the Wordpress plugins directory and download it.

Thanks I actually used it and it works great. The thing is, it shows up on every single page, post, home, - well everything. I just want one for the homepage.

I use feedburner. The issue I'm having is I'm want to give my e-book as a download link or some way in exchange for their e-mail (so I can build my list up)
