So this is my competitor, somehow, he managed to litteraly explode with organic traffic in the most hard niche - casino.
Can you guys help me analyze how he managed this? i checked the page, he dont post alot of articles, maybe once 2-3 weeks.
is this backlink push?
keywords are hard/super hard.

This kind of sudden organic spike in a casino niche is usually not from low publishing volume, but from a strong authority push behind the scenes. Most likely he built or acquired high-quality backlinks (PBNs, expired domains or guest posts) that boosted domain authority fast. Another common tactic is programmatic SEO or doorway pages targeting thousands of long-tail casino keywords without frequent "visible" blogging. It can also be boosted by parasite SEO or strong link networks rather than content frequency, which is why traffic jumps even with few new articles.

Maybe they've redirected (301) a hacked page to their site or they've used a massive backlink push to raise the ranking for a specific keyword.
So, check the page's recent backlinks, anchor as well as their organic keywords.

301 redirects from expired domains. almost 75% of the domains that i sell now a days end up in the hands of people doing seo work for casinos and they all do the same exact thing just redirect the domain to there casino so i would say he has done the same.

clever trick i also noticed one of my clients doing is he will acquire a domain+website from me and not redirect it instead he would try to inject his casino backlinks into the site naturally without looking like spam for example a movie site at the footer he would add a do follow backlink to his casino with the text "top 10 gambling movies of all time" and it would actually take you to his site to a page that has exactly that then a couple of days later he would slowly start adding internal links to other pages on the site

That is a massive link blast you can see the traffic jump the second those new domains show up so it's definitely not the content doing the heavy lifting. In a tough niche like casino they're 100% using high-power pbn's or niche edits to force those rankings.

Growth like this rarely comes from content alone. It’s usually the result of a strong, well-executed backlink strategy like guest posts, niche edits, and often some PBN support. In the casino niche, authority and link velocity play a big role. They’re likely targeting high-intent keywords and supporting those pages with consistent, steady link building.

Usually strong backlinks + aged domains + high intent pages. Low content, but powerful signals behind it.

thanks for all replies guys, looks like they put alot of money into the backlinks etc to make this happen.

This person is probably renting private network links, or they have their own network where they most likely blocked scrapers from seeing the pages. Try to use a tool that isn't as popular as Ahrefs or Semrush; you may see the links that are hidden and powering it.

casino is crazy competitive, so posting every 2–3 weeks doesn’t really mean much. i’d check backlink growth, anchor texts, expired domains, redirects and internal linking first. a lot of sites look inactive on the content side while there’s a heavy link push happening in the background. in hard niches like casino, strong diverse backlinks can move rankings way more than just publishing more articles.
