Please School Me On Reddit

Hi, been using BHW as quick reference for a while but never posted. I've been doing IM as a side thing for a few years with decent results. Anyway, the one thing I really know very little about is Reddit. Anytime I ever went there in the past, it looked like some really outdated forum type place (ever go to Craigslist community?) so I never really had any interest in it. But I'm looking into exploring other avenues these days and Reddit is on my list.


Here's what I do know, that it's a popular place and full of people who know the internet. So I know you can't just drop a spammy link all over the place and hope it gets results. I have a site that I wanted to start pushing that I put some serious work into, I know the subject very well.

But I don't understand the difference between subreddits or any of that stuff when I hear people talk about Reddit. Can someone give me a basic rundown of how someone in IM can use it to their advantage. (maybe just post a very basic Reddit for dummies link if this question is tired on these forums?)

My idea for now is this, find someone who has a good standing in the Reddit community, ask them to post a link in wherever it should go (like I said, clueless here) and hope that the users will be kind to it when they see it's written by someone who knows the subject.

It's costume niche related to a geek culture phenomenon. Since it's October I don't have much time so I want to just pay for a gig from Fiverr or wherever for now. But I like to know things, so eventually I want to be able to handle this stuff myself with a decent grasp on the place works. That way i can develop my own strategy.

Well Reddit is simple man just go on it daily and spend like 30 min to 1h on it and youl get the hang of it in 1 week, Redditors can spot if you are trying to promote something even if that is perfect, also dont post your site to much you can get banned for that and dont ask ppl to upvote or dont use fake accounts for upvote. That is it just spend some time on it and youl see what is what!

Thanks for the response. Yeah I'm eventually going to start lurking and posting there. I just figured it would look messed up to go in there and drop a link right away, so that's why i wanted to source it out for the time being since time is ticking on Halloween.

reddit is very easy to use, but most important thing is redditors are very active so promote link very accuratly.

I've come to learn that you don't want to start out making your own posts, but rather go comment on other peoples.

Make relevant comments that will get upvoted so you can increase your "karma" (i.e. rep). Once enough is built up you'll be more trusted by the community and thus posting links will result in greater results.

Alternatively, you can Google around and buy aged accounts with karma, or you can go to Fiverr and buy link karma there.
