Hey,

My one year paid anti-virus solution got expired with the commencement of this month.

Can someone recommend a free anti-virus solution that offers reasonable performance. Even if there is a trial period of two weeks or so, I am fine with it.

Thanks,

I use microsoft security essentials and works good for me. Never have had any problems. Detects problems when they arise and can also set to run specificc times and days. Is also free.

Avast free edition is awsome.

Both mentioned above are great, but as long as you know what you are doing online, you should be getting any viruses at all. I haven't had a virus in a year.

Avira AntiVir Personal (Free)

Avg Is quite good but the latest version is too cumbersome and buggy in my opinion! Avast is ok as well, but iv seen it pick up a lot of false positives.

Norton I don't like at all.

Mse is good that's what I'm running at the mo. I'm sure someone told me it doesn't auto update though is that right?

Anyone who relies on an AV and a firewall for protection is living in a world of
false security.

Yea nod32 is good. Oxonbeef your totally right! Any time iv ever had a virus, iv had to take manual steps to sort it out - and I sort of share your opinion - but I have also had a virus and not known because I havnt had av installed - which does work well as an early warning system -remember good viruses don't really make themselves known.

Having said that, where I work we do get customers all the time that can't comprehend how they've ended up with a virus even though they had an anti virus product installed!!!

:)

av software never seem to work properly.

if you have a problem just type it into google and you will find a solution.

CA antivirus is the best antivirus for me i am using it since 7 yrs now :)

I am a big fan of Avast and i run housecall once in a while. But I've been really satisfied with Avast

Type in Google...

anti virus beta test

Or, go to Panda Security website and sign up to be a 2012 beta tester. It never expires! :D
