    Okay lets begin:

    - I own xxxxx.us (9 letters), xxxxx is my MAIN keyword, domain isn't aged at all so, nothing special.
    - Google search of
    ---- xxxxx == 338k competition
    ---- "xxxxx" == 547k competition
    ---- [xxxxx] == 338k competition
    ---- allintitle:"xxxxx" == 15.9k competition
    - Google Keyword tool
    ---- xxxxx (broad) == 823k local, 1.22mil global monthly
    ---- "xxxxx" (phrase) == 823k global monthly
    ---- [xxxxx] (exact) == 673k global monthly
    - In the xxxxx Google search (with 338k competition), the top sites are
    ---- #1 PR 4 - Domain name that doesn't have keyword, but /xxxxxhtmlfile.html has keyword - with 92 links in "link:URL.com" and 1/4 are internal files.
    ---- #2 PR 3 - is a second page of first; same concept, general domain with keyword html file (general.com/xxxxxhtmlfile.html), 189 links in "link:URL.com" and 1/2 are internal.
    ---- #3 PR 4 - is a diff site; URL.com/xxxxx.html, 2 links, both myspace....?
    - In all three sites listed above, the homepage urls have very high PR (PR 5 for first 2 homepage and 3 is PR 4).

    I planned on doing Link Wheels, article submission (link wheels i guess) and video submission. My site isn't revolutionary so social bookmarking is somewhat out of the question. Do I look into a software like SENuke or the likes?

    I've been anywhere near to page 5 of google for anything (except my old arcade site - arcadedistrict keyword.... not too many searches :() let alone page 1, spot NUMERO UNO and I think I have a smash hit on this one. From what I've read on here people have dominated on Google searchs with over 1.5m competition in a few short months (3 - 5). I'm willing to put in a long term comittment to doing this.

    Oh and my site is a one page site, its similar to a landing page in that it is only one page, but it keeps them there for a good amount of time.

    Do I have a slam dunk here or am I just too naïve to understand the real workings of SEO? I can make the keyword density whatever it needs to be plus meta-keywords/description as well to what they need to be.

    Thanks everyone!

    SEO and links. Spam some links. Spamming link will increase PR. And remmeber to update frequent cos Google spiders like to crawl fresh meat

    @rnc -

    First off, with that type of competition, I wouldn't get your hopes up of any kind of domination at all. If you really work your ass off for it, maybe several months down the road you may start to see some results, but this will take daily promotion, lots of quality content(not a single page site), and a lot of patience.

    Why would you count social bookmarking out of the question? Without SB, you will hinder your chance of making any progress that much more.

    You say that the highest you got in Google is page 5...then why are you targeting a keyword with that much competition?? You would do much better to target a long tail keyword with less competition, get that ranked, and then work your way up from there.

    Think outside the box. Follow your competitor's trails and you will eventually see what he/she is doing. Likwheels are not the only promotional paths but you will also have to submit articles to article directories, buy some links if necessary and spread some of that almighty spamzilla. I highly recommend imacros for automation.

    547K competing sites in quotes right? Also, according to your original post, the keyword without quotes has a lower rating of 338K. If your search in quotes is showing more competition than without quotes, this means that the competition is not only really high, but they are likely to be bit smarter than average since they are specifically optimizing their site for the same keyword as you.

    Plus you say you won't look to use social bookmarking, and you say it will be a single page site....I think you'd have a slightly better chance with a blog.

    I'm just telling you honestly, but whatever you say.

    Good luck with it.

    I hope you make it past page 5.

    Yuki is right your niche is very competitive and just like I mentioned before linkwheels will NOT get you there but also need to buy tons of links and press releases. My buddy runs a moving website with a keyword over 6,120,000 in quotes and took him over 5 years to achieve number 1 spot on G. Stick with micro niches instead.
