I barely use the shit, so trying to set up a legit business on there is confusing me.

It appears they have "Profiles" and "Places"

It appears "Places" is for businesses, and "Profiles" is for people. Is this correct?

All I'm trying to do is set up an account on there for my legit business. I go to create a "Profile," but it tells me that those are for people. So I go to create a "Place," but it won't let me unless i have a profile...?

So when y'all set this shit up, are you setting up a "Profile" AND a "Places" page for your company? or... what? Why can't i just make a "Place" page for my business lol

Er...you should be able to from right here:
http://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php

Local Business or Place
It'll still ask you to make a Facebook account, though, to login and manage the place...

Okay, so you DO need to have both... Do you guys use your personal facebook accounts to do that? Or do you set up a dummie account to do that? Or, do you set up that same business as a "Profile" as well?

With what profile do y'all administer your business' "Places" account?

Well, I already had a profile with Facebook, so I use that to manage all my pages. However, if you create a dummy account, you will be posting through your page's name, so no one will know who the actual admin of the page is, and therefore you won't have to worry about managing a profile, too.

Also, what state are you from?

WA, and thanks, guys--sounds like i can do it either way. The confusion was coming into play because the dummy Profile that was set up (someone else in the office did it) was created with a business-like name with logo and stuff... but then we also had a page.

Anyway, I'll get rid of this dummy account and just use my personal one to manage the Places page with.

Cheers!!

Such frustration for a friday! I have been working with my FB pages for a while but it is often a nightmare to get set up if you don't know what you are doing! I had never set up a page before and I think I spent half an hour looking for the 'create a page' button alone!

^^ i know right? I've had a facebook acct forever, but i never use the thing--so when it comes down to having to work this social media stuff for my business, ugh! lol
