please give me your advice on this issue.

Hey guys, just wanted your input on this situation.

Last week a guy purchased a game console for about 500 dollars on ebay. I was just about to fullfill his order when I realized he had very low feedback and signed up just two days before purchasing my item. he's got a feedback of like 5 but 4 of the 5 are from the same seller for a low cost item.

I just am a bit worried and flags are going up since he also hasn't purchased anything from anybody else since buying my item.

I am sending the item ups and requiring a signature, but is that enough to cover my ass? what should i do?

has he paid for the game console already? if he has and you already have the money then what are you worried about?
 
i also want to add that he's not a registered user..

i didn't know you could buy stuff off of ebay w/out being a registered user.

Let me ask u a few questions....did he bid on the item and not ask question first? How did he pay credit card? is he pming u asking u about the system?
 
On another note...I do remember seeing on youtube video, a guy hacking into the backend of ebay and using suspended seller account they were unregistered accounts and he was using the account as if it was a regular account on ebay to buy items.
 
Make sure that you are doing the entire transaction through ebay. Also make sure its a address you're shipping to (I had a guy tell me once that his town did not delivery mail to his house and he had to use a PO Box).
 
delay delivery a day or two and say it got lost in the mail to buy you some time.

Me personally I wouldn't ship it...I would refund him his money, yeah u might lose a sell but u don't have to worry about a chargeback...also u don't have worry about losing the item your selling...u can always resell the item..and not worry about a chargeback...if it 2 good to be true normally it is...trust your first instinct..also make sure the situation is a good 1 for u pros and cons..

1. You ship the item and the idiot files a chargeback. (u loose the item and the bank migh give this jerk his money back.
2. The credit card could be stolen and the real owner files a chargeback after they find out there card has faudulent charges on it (happen to me once)

3. U don't ship the item, refund the guy his money tell him the item is sold sorry for the trouble also his account is not registerd so i doubt he can leave - feedback also u keep the product and resell it...and not have to worry about a chargeback at all and u resold the item for prolly the same price

I think this is a no brainer

I'll try to find it, it's been a year since i saw it...but i was amazed also...real talk, I dont know how he did it...but it was right there in front of my eyes.

This is good advise. If you are sweating the sale, don't go through with it. Tell the buyer that your kid ripped open the box and spilled chocolate syrup into the unit. :bawling: Yeah... it's a lie, but a lie you 'd be happy to tell.

The shipping address isn't to Nigeria is it?
 
Definitely sounds suspicious. $500 is way too much to risk by giving him the benefit of the doubt. Tell him it fell off a table and got damaged.
 
If he paid with PayPal and has a verified address, you're probably covered by their seller protection program. You can find out from within your PayPal account.

If he paid by personal check or money order, either of those can bounce for up to two weeks. (yep, money orders CAN bounce, as well as have payment stopped.) Check with your bank and tell him you'll delay shipment for 10 days or 2 weeks to make sure the payment is good.
 
HAHAHA if he paid with paypal...the buyer can still file a chargeback...and the bank will take the money from paypal and paypal..will take the money from u, paypal will not fight for u after banks get involved...because they know your going to use there service regardless of how crappy it is...

Having quite a few years of experience with PayPal, I know that, if the OP has a signed delivery receipt from UPS, like he said he planned to use, PayPal WILL find in his favor and not take the money from him.
 
Tell him your very embarrassed but your cat took a wiz on it.

Refund his money and wish him luck in his future bids.
Advise him you will leave positive feedback regarding the trouble (which will buy you brownie points if he is legit or a fraud).

I would do this right away, the longer you wait, the more chance you will get negative feedback.

Has nothen to do with paypal...trust me 10000% see paypal is not a bank therefore there not even regulated by federal banking laws..once a consumer calls there bank and says..they want to chargeback on paypal the bank will ask u why.."item is not as described" the bank will then snatch the money from paypal and give them 3-5 days to respond 85% of the time paypal won't respond on your behalf and let the dispute expire with the bank..then turn around and snatch the money from u. Im not knocking your expirence with paypal but im a visa/mastercard merchant for 5 years selling replicas..i have been through everything u can imagine with paypal and banks regarding

friendly fraud - you should google the term
 
If he is not a registered user you do not have to complete the transaction. You have to refund the money back to him
 
If I was you, I would hold onto the item for a few more days, See if the money he payed you gets backcharged(due to him giving you fraudulent funds).
Deposit the funds from your payal from your bank.
If he contacts you whilst your holding it, Just tell him that youve already dispatched it and it should be with him soon.
After a few days of holding the item, and requesint money to ur bank, By now it should be either 1. Backchargeddue to fraud, 2. Processed and in your bank
Now you can just send him his item.
 
You should write a sentence in all your sellings description, that you have the right to cancel any bid if the user does not meat certain requirements.. so when you see something fishy like this you just refund him.
