My site has lost traffic from March to now, which is a quarter. I think it has been downgraded. Is there any solution to this situation? I am at a loss. The traffic has not increased for three consecutive months and is still decreasing. Is Google's penalty mechanism too abnormal?

Is there any other solution? I dare not update my site for half a month. The more I update, the more it decreases.

There is another small thing. I changed the website icon, but the included page still shows the previous one. It feels like Google is not updating my website.

These updates are going to hit you no matter what you do.

Best bet is to work on multiple projects at once.

Otherwise, it just won't make any sense in terms of net ROI.

The website just changed its icon, which has nothing to do with SEO. It’s just strange that after the ICO was updated, Google still indexed the previous one.
 
ok, then what steps have you made to overcome the site's downfall?

I would like to know more about your site whether you focus local regions or local seo like that

Or diversify your traffic source. If you have a diversified source of traffic, your entire business would not be complete gone the moment one traffic source experiences a major setback.
 
Traffic plunges like that is as infuriating as it gets, and when updates pop up to make things better, it feels even worse. Look, you’re not the only one that’s been feeling backwards after one of the updates; a bunch of site owners recently have been reporting odd changes as well. Look, I don’t think it’s a punishment but more of an adjustment to the algo. If it's a moderation issue check the Search Console and ensure there are no crawling/indexing errors and that the core pages are still receiving appropriate traffic. With the icon, sometimes it can take Google ages to update visually cached items like favicons so there’s little need to use weeks. Don’t let it all get to you; updates shouldn’t be forgotten about just yet. And ramifications I still have long term impact.

Deleted redundant front-end code
Optimized product page meta description
Deleted previously written AI content
Recently added a lot of backlinks

It is just an independent B2B website for construction machinery used by an enterprise

You should conduct a site audit to identify the reason for the ranking drop. It could be due to a recent algorithm update or your competitors discovering and implementing the right strategies. It’s not too late to take action — so go ahead and get started.

You are right, I now understand a little bit. I remember that after the update in November last year, the traffic decreased, but it recovered soon. However, this update was really scary. The traffic did not recover for a quarter. I didn’t even think about whether the rules had changed. Should I update the site as before and wait for it to recover slowly?

I feel you It’s super frustrating not knowing the cause. Try checking Search Console, compare traffic drops by page, and maybe run a quick site audit. Even small clues can lead to fixes. Don’t give up—you’re not alone in this!
