Can anyone recommend a plagiarism checker that is good but free?

Thanks, but anyone know software?

Do not be fixed on the software - what you need is a real-time updated database that a standalone, let alone free software is very unlikely to achieve. Someone may of course write a script for that, using Google results via proxies, but for them to be fast they have to be private = not free.

I'd recommend using copyscape. The best way is to set up a text file where you will paste your article. Transfer the text file onto your host with an ftp.

You should be able to get access to the text file with www.yourdomain.com/text file

Just use that link in copyscape.

Try this

Code:
http://ed.grammarly.com/editor/view/?f=1

Hope it helps you.

pretty sure copyscape is what you're looking for
http://www.copyscape.com

This one is a desktop application that is really good and free:

Code:
http://textbroker.com/uncover/

You learn as long as you live! :)
I must correct myself - textbroker is totally capable of sustaining a tool like this - it's a need for their main service they offer and sustained by their revenue.

Thanks for the heads-up on the textbroker tool, tried it out and it works well

Great tool, and its free, cant believe this great tool is for free, i remember some website that went into business and they were doing the same thing that this tool do for free.

academicplagiarism.com is much more accurate, but it's not 100% free. Hey, you get what you pay for!

Copyscape checks even by sentences and phrases.. do the other ones mention do the same?
