    Hello BHV!

I've been sitting here in read-only mode for more than two years, now i decided to share my story with BHV comunity. It will not be so much about money goals (you will find out the reasons a little later) as about my and (i hope) your experience.

I'll tell you a couple of important things about myself right away.
    - My views are opposed to the views of the copyright supporters.
    - I absolutely don't like what the modern web is.
    - I love music and am interested in it.

So, a 1.5 years ago I created a free music source based on the above principles. The site has an online player, user can download tracks or a full albums. Downloading is carried out directly from my file storages, no any file sharing sites and limitations. In addition, the site is made as simple and lightweight as possible. Most importantly, there is no any advertising on the site, yes, this is the reason why I am not talking about any money goals. I know, it is not the most profitable way.

A bit about the technical part. I have separate vps for file storage and web. Frontend is based on nginx + django + postgresql. File storage has couple of python scripts for parsing and downloading files. I do not use any third-party services to collect statistics, because of their unethical surveillance of users. All statistics are taken from server logs, logs are regularly cleaned.

A bit about numbers. At this moment i have:
    - Over 200 unique visitors per day, without any promotion.
    - Over 8k albums in database.
    - Quarterly budget is under $100 for servers rental:

About twice a month i get strikes from copyright holders by e-mail. Its not a problem for me cause the servers are located in eastern Europe and ignore DMCA.

I hope my journey will be interesting for blackhatters. I will try to answer questions and share my experience and would really appreciate if someone would tell their experience with donation based monetization and promoting resources of this kind.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
