Pinterests - can this tp become new marketing tool?

It seems to be new popular social network. Audience is pretty logical it is females and young people, but have it any potential for ecommerce. Any thoughts? Maybe anybody have experience in working with this new social website?

I saw on Forbes the other day how they are projected to fly past other social media sites. right now only twitter it out referring them...

it should be easy to use it to your advantage and I can see the amount of marketing increasing daily on the site...I do not know how they will keep it clean.

To monetize it is really easy.

Scrape some recipes together, set up a "best of pinterest" website and upload some pictures linking to the sales page of your top pinterest recipes e-book. Sell the ebook for $7 or $9 and profit

I noticed a lot of chatter between lady friends of mine two months ago. I got one to invite me for a work (ie. Fake) account. I've been casually pinning stuff for a few of my sites over the last two months.

I haven't scaled it up yet, but so far I see theoretical potential, but little real outcome yet. My account is indexed in google but none of my pins are. Some pins that I repinned are indexed and show up with my username if I do a site: pinterest.com search. So I know it's being crawled. Last night geared up a massive SB blast on those pins. So far bookmarking hasn't worked. If that fails, then I will try retweeting them.

I see potential for viral traffic, do follow links, and promoting physical products. Female oriented items like jewlery, clothes etc should work well. For a good pin,
you need to make sure you have a good picture on the page you are linking to.

I think you will have to pin landing pages or 301 them to make sure they can't pull a fast one on you. I've been wondering how they will monetize this monster, so this may be their blackhat strategy for now.

Just typing this has given me some new ideas.

hoping to get that because my girl told me about pintrest last month but I completely disregarded it as I was interested in my MNS but now it's being brought up here soooo now things are getting a little interesting

My wife is active on it, and I keep telling her to think about ways to monetize it. I haven't spent any time on it, but from what I see when I pass by ssddher comp, it's a bunch of pics about what people like.
