Is pinterest so much different from Instagram?

If i get a huge followers base will i be able to drive my pinterest followers to my online shop?

What about niches? Are they similar to instagram ones? I mean nature, fashion, sport, comedy, automotive, fitness...
Is this social network growing constantly?

Your help will be very appreciated since i am trying to approach this social network. Thank you!

Pinterest is mostly women and the most popular niche is recipes.
 
Take a look at the categories they've established. Those are your niches. Of course, some are bigger than others.
 
Pinterest is a fast growing platform and one where I have been carrying out a lot more work for clients in the past few weeks. I have had some successes with getting more Pinterest traffic and even some great links from bloggers by using Pinterest as an outreach tool. So in this blog I'll share some tips and tricks I have picked up.
 
Pinterest can turn around super good in any niche its also I find easier to grow compare to IG as the limits and restrictions are lesser over there and most of the time they would forgive you instead of banning your account unlike in IG

worked with recipes, weight loss, workouts - these are definitely best niches for me
now going to work with the niches like fashion and clothes. think they gonna be good ones too ))
 
For your desired niche Pinterest would do just as good as Instagram would excluding shoutout fees.

There isn't anything bad about either, but Instagram is for active traffic gains with each individual post and Pinterest is a passive mix.

It could take days to weeks before you see a chain reaction with Pinterest, whereas Instagram is instant.
 
The are some difference. It is easier to discover people on Pinterest. Your pins stay alive months after publication. And you can create board where people can contribute.
To get the results you get on Pinterest on instagram, you need to keep posting consistently, favor square images and use more tags.

Even if you own a blog/website you can increase your traffic using pinterest if you have thousands of followers on your pinterest account

Did you try Instagram?
I have an account there and I did not have success with it. But it seems it worth to spend some time there for a good return on investment. While I find Pinterest easier, if someone can master both, I'll suggest him to learn to use the two systems.

Exactly. Pinterest is really about searching for stuff. People use it like Google Images (or something) and your old pins are as good as your new pins. Instagram is more about following someone and consuming content in real time.
 
You can derive huge traffic from Pinterest related to the female category.
