I have a "lifestyle" blog that has been around over 10 years now. Pinterest is my 2nd largest source of traffic (only behind google organic search). What I do on that blog for pinterest is:
Make a pinterest graphic
Upload it into my blog post with alt-text being what I want the pinterest caption to be
Pin my blog posts to my pinterest account once. Re-pin it to additional boards if it is relevant for more than 1 board that I have.
Add the pin to a tailwind "loop" so that it will loop through relevant boards and group boards every few months.
Add the pin to tailwind "tribes" so that (hopefully) other bloggers will repin it.

I know a while back that it was recommended to make a lot of graphics for the same blog post and to not pin to group boards anymore. I've seen mixed opinions on whether tailwind in general, or loops and tribes specifically, are good or 'bad' for the new algorithm. I haven't really made any changes since learning about the algorithm changes. I've wondered if tailwind is really helping me or not. I know that the repins I Get from pods are not helpful in terms of...getting my content in front of people who would want to see it. most of the bloggers who do thse exchanges cover topics that are a lot different from mine and some feel like really spammy accounts, frankly. Even the higher quality accounts, their audience isn't likely to be interested in my beauty stuff. I more do it in hopes that if pinterest sees my content reblogged a few times it'll give it a bit of a boost somehow? No idea if it does or not though.

Last fall, I made a new niche blog. It is a specific niche that I don't care to reveal on here but it'd be classified as beauty. For this new blog I have basically been doing the exact same thing as I do on my lifestyle blog. The one change is how I handle "pods"/repin exchanges. I link up my pins from this beauty blog, but I do not repin other peoples content onto my beauty-pinterest account. Instead I repin other peoples stuff from my lifestyle pinterest account. I thought it might be a bad idea to pin all sorts of lifestyle/random content onto my beauty-pinterest account?

Anyway. I am seeing some results. I get something like 1700 visits a month from pinterest per google analytics. I've getting like 39k pageviews in the last month and 74% of it is search, and then Pinterest is #2 bringing in 15% of my traffic, about 3000 visits.

I really have no idea what is typical but I'm not disappointed in these results given that it's only about six month old...but I feel like I'm largely winging my pinterest strategy based n what basics I learned about pinterest years ago.

I am trying to make this beauty blog fairly passive income, so have intentionally not put a lot of work into social media and am trying to draw traffic mostly from Google, but I know pinterest can be a great source of recurring traffic sometimes. So, I guess I'm trying to say I'm open to investing some time...but not a ton. I see others say they pin 50 times a day, and making brand new graphics for blog posts every single day. But, I'd be open t hearing what other suggestions are out there.

Or, if anyone can recommend a pinterest course that is up to date and genuinely helpful, I'd be open to that. I've seen some paid courses on blogs and they just didn't feel very authentic to me, seemed like they were just trying to make a buck selling vague info. Kind of not sure where to turn for accurate information.

that's what I'd like to know, too as I just got my hands dirty with this platform 2 months ago and I'm just shooting in the dark :(

Unfortunately, there's no Pinterest guide, not an updated one anyway now that Pinterest has changed their algo again few months ago. Still, here's a reply to some of my questions that a nice chap has bothered to answer to at the end of January. Maybe, just maybe, it will answer your questions, too....

Hi, I had made Pinterest account for my health blog and was adding new pins of new posts to a common board but suddenly Pinterest terminated my account and deleted all my pins saying that I have violated their rules & banned me. Well I think that all other people use Pinterest for promotion of their online business so why my account was banned is not at all acceptable for me.

I suggest you take a look at the post I wrote earlier.

1700 visits a month is really not high, if you visit 1700 a day is worthy of happiness.
Pin 50 times a day, which is the highest number. No matter how high you are, you will be forbidden to speak.

I have not bought a paid course and I am not sure of its validity.
