Pinterest Following/Unfollowing Question

Hi, I realize this kind of sounds like a really stupid question. If you follow someone and unfollow them quickly: lets say, within a day of following them. Does your "x has started following you. would you like to follow them back?" notification stay in their feed even if you've unfollowed them or does it disappear if you unfollow them and they haven't taken action yet?

also, how long do you generally wait to unfollow those you have followed? I usually do two days or so worth of following then unfollow them all every 2-3 days and its worked alright for me, but I never knew if unfollowing too soon would kill my chances of them following back.

I'm getting 100-150 followers a day on my primary account with follows only

One of my boards actually got featured today, gained about 2000 followers since last night and my feed is blowing up right now. pretty sweet! Also Ironic because most of my boards are just built from the most re-pinned things for that keyword.
