i believe that pinterest could be one of the major channels to generate traffic but it is not always going to generate revenue instantly. it is quite different from other platforms where content has a very short liffespan the quality pin will continue driviing traffic for a long time after it has been posted. for e commerce i would say it is more of an asset in the long run.
It Depends on your niche. Pinterest works really well for visually appealing products, but I wouldn't rely on it as the main source of traffic for an e-commerce Store.

Pinterest can definitely be a primary traffic source for visual and lifestyle niches, but for most other products, it works best as a high converting secondary channel that drives sustainable, long tail traffic.
