Read this blog post from ViperChill today: http://www.viperchill.com/private-link-building/

What are your thoughts on this?

Well, I think this is not a completely new idea(may be just a new term PIN) but he has definitely analyzed and put together a great post.

Would PBNs stop working in 2-3 years? Would like to hear out expert comments. :)

LOL, definitely. This guy seems to put in good research though. The "term" is what gets you traffic after all :p

He said "ViperChill" eight times in that post.

    Eight times.

Most of that guy's shit is pure trash. Like he is trying to mimick the goddamn droplets of gold we used to get from Eli at Blue Hat SEO back in the day. But Eli didn't name drop himself, and knew that his target audience weren't morons, so he didn't sugar-coat with bullshit.

    Another day another guru.

I had some words with that kid a few weeks ago, he posted a screenshot of one of our products in his last article (before this one). I was a little annoyed as he hadn't asked me and the article sort of painted a shit image of the SEO scene.. I don't appreciate that.

Basically he's attempting to be like "Backlinko" but failing, a lot of the stuff he covers has already been covered by Backlinko.

Read the full post - there were a few interesting things I picked out (which I'm already doing) but the whole concept of "PINs" is nothing new. He's just given it a fancy name to appear like he's the first talking about it.

And secondly, if you set up your PBN's right.. they'll work great for a very, very long time. Google isn't going to hit a site that looks and feels exactly like a real one.. and that's how you should be building your main PBN's. Google are smart, but they're not smart enough to distinguish between a very well structured PBN and a money site, because at the end of the day.. both should be identical anyway. And so long as you've covered your tracks with the designs, hosting, etc.. your PBN will and should last for a long time.

Matt Cutts even mentioned that PBN's are okay, although he never called them a PBN directly.

Actually he started way before Backlinko and I remember 4-5 years ago I used to enjoy Viper Chill articles. Learned a lot as well. Backlinko (to me) is just another Neil Patel wannabe
True, really no need for fancy name but he started a topic so I might as well write an article with all the influencers names and how are these "influencers" connected with each other. One big name and shame article.

PBNs will cease to be effective when links are no longer desired for SEO, not before.

I prefer Leiths advice - build your pbn like its a money site, that way it will last for very long time.

But also I think vc knows what he is talking about for sure, it makes a lot of sense what he says about PINS, I guess it's nothing new, just common sense but it would turn what would have just been a PBN into a much more distributed and sporadic network of links so it's gonna be a lot harder to detect. It does rely on having enough contacts to set the relationships up in the first place though.

SEO as we know it dying, don't think so - if Google go the way he suggests and the entire serps end up dominated by ads then I think it's more likely Google would be overtaken by a competitor, but I think google know this: it's not ALL about ads as he says, the whole concept of the natural results, which also represent freedom of speech, impartial information etc and also extremely important because they as the most value. That's why SEO will never die.

Links are always going to have a major part in SEO, they may drop down with social networking playing an increased role but they can't really be counted out by any serious search engine.
