Pinging Non-Blog Sites

Say I've added some new links to a page. This page is already indexed, but I'd like Google to discover these links asap. Will "pinging" the site (using a tool like, say, Ping-o-Matic!) speed up the process? Or is pinging strictly for blogs/RSS based sites?

Pinging will help google find updates to any page.

However, I never ping anything, except maybe a web 2.0 site that Google is stubbornly refusing to index. In general, time spent pinging is better spent on further SEO efforts. Be patient, Google will find your updates on its own.

its worth pinging all of your non blog sites... to get them indexed..

Ping it. I've had links and pages with my links found much faster by pinging. Usually a few days, but could still be 2 weeks. Better than a few months if it's an inner page on a low traffic site.

Ping away! Also, remember to ping your newly built backlinks to get them updated/re-indexed as well.

There are mass ping tools availible such as PingDevice, so it's not a waste of time to ping anymore, if it ever was in your opinion that is. Just be careful on mass pinging backlinks to a fresh site, you don't wanna sandbox yourself.
