Pinging backlinks

I've been reading and learning now in time about SEO and things. Now what I don't understand fully is about pinging backlinks.

I wonder, do you guys ping your backlinks? And why? And how?

What I think, correct me if I'm wrong, when you ping the backlinks, they get indexed faster in the search engines.

How? How you ping the list, if I'm right you just use sites like this (down) to ping the links?

I am ping my backlinks with my softs , sick submitter and senukex.

Yes, I do ping my backlinks. I use LinkLicious & Ping Expert. It helps get your backlinks indexed and "counted" by search engines much faster.
It's important to do so in my opinion because if you have links that are not indexed by the search engine itself, it's like having an amazing creation, but without anyone knowing about it. It's out there, but it's not doing anything for you unless big places take notice of it.

pinging helps gets things indexed faster so pinging backlinks will simply increase the speed that you get those links indexed into serps
