Pictures for Instagram - what source do you use

Hi Guys,

I'm hell-bent on building a huge Instagram account (1M+) that I can gain an income from in the future - like 99,9% of people here.

My specific niche is posting pictures from the quite exotic place where I happen to live.

Now, my main issue is that I don't have tons of time to go out and take pictures. I do have a decent collection of pictures on stock, but even with 2-3 pictures per day it is depleting quickly.

Also my picture style may not be the best suited for Instagram, that seems to favour glossy, boosted pics with high wow-factor...

I know that is certainly preferable to post super-HQ unique pictures if possible. I just don't have 4 Hrs daily to produce those pictures.

I am trying to get other people to feature their photos on my feed, but I don't have the reputation or volume to really attract good photographs yet.

What would you guys do in this situation?

Scout out good stock photos?

"Borrow" from Flickr and elsewhere on the web?

why not go out in the weekend, make a ton of pictures and have content for the upcoming weeks?
other than that, just get it from other pages and give the photographer credits.

I do that already!

Using every possible occasion to get a shot, but honestly, it's waring me out. Will not be able to keep up for the 1-2 years that it takes to build a big account.

Buy a camera if you live somewhere exotic, then watermark your images.

Hehe...

What is the general consensus here, should original photographer be given credit or not?

I have considered asking nicely, but I just don't have the time to discuss back and forth with the owner each of the thousands of pictures I will be posting over the next years.

Have any of you gotten in any trouble for borrowing pictures?

As the account grows I will have to clean up my act, of course. But then I will be in a much better position to get very good featured material.

My idea is to delete the borrowed pics after, say, 3 months and only keep pics that I have taken myself:

Any thoughts on that practice? Does it "weaken" my feed to gradually delete old pictures?

I have full pro kit, and personally I don't really care if people use my pictures...

tell people they can send in thier photos for a chance at a post. -thats what i do, works great

Do you ask people to email you - or post under a certain hashtag?

email, hastag and DM they can choose anyone of those, some prefer to submit via hashtags others via dm

Ok. What's your opinion on scraping pics from Flickr and other sources - road to nowhere or really clever?
Pictures will, of course, be carefully selected and adjusted by me.

But should I delete the pics after some time again?

i dont do it, becouse i dont need too,

you can try it out and see what works best for you

Do you by any chance know if it common/likely for IG accounts to get banned due to copyright violations?

dont think it is, you might encounter a pissed off photographer and the photo will be removed but thats about it.

thats why i ask people to send in their work that way the photogrpher is always happy to see their work posted.
