so i want to get into some more competitive niches but need to figure out how to pick out a domain that will get me the most seo benefit.
for example say my niche was bodybuilding

bodybuilding has hundreds of sub keywords ie bodybuilding supplements, bodybuilding workouts, bodybuilding training, bodybuilding food etc etc

i plan on targeting these sub pages first and then after some time i would want to go after the big main keyword

would it be wise to choose a domain bodybuildingguide.com because that has the main kw and i can still have a close match when targeting the sub pages wuth urls like bodybuildingguide.com/bodybuilding-food

ha as i write this i feel like i am over analzing..i just want the best seo bang for buck

The domain you are looking at seems to be good. Yeh subpages are often good for optimizing for the sub keywords as you can really crack the onpage SEO specifically for each keyword ;)

What I have seen is anytime you can have your keywords in the links it seems to rank much better. Doesnt have to be in the domain. Subdomain or anywhere in the link is fine

You're right, this is one of the best domains you could get for seo for something like this.
