Nicely written guide. I will be sure to refer to it as needed.

Hi BHW.
PHPBuild wrote that the <buy green fancy widget? This girl...> page should rank Top100 for <green fancy widget> and top20 for <buy green fancy widget? This girl...>.
Does he mean exact or broad search?
My page don't rank top 100 for buy green fancy widget? This girl... but is #1 for "buy green fancy widget? This girl...". So am i still overoptimized? (1.2% KW Density, 2% for widget). I have no idea what else i could do :/

Best Regards and tyvm for your help!

Interesting question. I took a look at webmaster tools the other day for a long forgotten amazon site and noticed the keywords g was associating with my site where amazon related terms since the widget in the sidebar had amazon links. So yes, it will have an influence on the relevancy of the page as is your case.

Helow PHPbuilt.

I'm following your thread for some weeks and I've read it many times. Maybe you have answered this question, but I haven't seen that. I would like to know how do you put the amazon links in your page: only links, image links, etc.

Very interesting reading, not sure I agree that goggle penalize for duplicate content which is part of the templates though, in my experience as long as main content is unique and quality reading I had not have issue with some not so unique templates. May be have to look into it anyways. Thanks

What a beast of a thread, and an amazing thread. My head hurts from all the information I just took in after reading the entire thing over the course of 6 hours, but man, I regret nothing!!!

Im trying to experiment with onsite SEO. In terms of over-optimization, what would you guys say is the best practice on titles and URLs?
- mysite.com/my-long-tail-keyword or mysite.com/an-lsi-or-partial-match
- Can I write my titles (my H1 tags and <title>) like "My long tail kw - 10 things you didn't know", or just go for a title with an LSI or something catchy?

I rank really well in Yahoo and Bing, but on some posts google won't even show any results in Serpbook. I assume Google's hummingbird is hitting over-optimization harder than Y and Bing?

Use the title tag to attract as many clicks from the searchers - Even if it means that you are not including your keyword. In the H1 tag include your keyword.

I am starting a new website, already almost 2 months old will be an authority, I am ranking in Yahoo and Bing but no in google...
what do you suggest?

I suggest you go back and READ this thread again.

to PHPBuilt:
I rarely post here as you can see from my post count, but I just wanted to say that this is very nice of you that despite having a full-time job and running your own sites, you still manage to answer all these questions with amazing attention and in detail.

I don't know you personally and I don't know what kind of person you are in real life, but from what I see here, you are a great human being. And what I am saying has nothing to do with SEO and all that. I am talking about you taking this much time to answer people's questions for free without asking for anything in return. That is truly nice of you.

I wish you all the success.
