PHPBUILT's Idiot-Proof Guide to Authority Site Building

So one authority site I am working on now has 120 articles and only gets about 2 visitors per day!. All the keywords I am targeting are mostly about 100 searches exact per month and my content is on page 3-4 for most of terms.

Q: I just added the site to webmaster tools. When I go to Indexed page, it show "0" but when I go to google and do site:sitename.com it shows all the articles are indexed?

You can also use seoquake with firefox. It will show the density for every word.

Matrix79: go to the post page and click on screen options. There's a check box for excerpts. Took me a while to find them too.

One question about keyword density... I was using Yoast Seo plugin keyword analysis which also shows each page keyword density. However now when I'm scanning my site with SEOquake chrome extension my keyword density is actually much more higher than the Yoast plugin tells me, about 2x higher.

Seoquake seems to count also words in page <title>My Website </title>. So my question is, is SEOquake extension counting the keyword density right way? Should we include words from the titles (<title> My Webiste </title> ) when counting page overall keyword density?

PHPBUILT thanks for awesome thread!

Yoast uses only the content(the article you are posting) to analyze the keyword density.
That`s the point PHPBUILT is trying to make here... that Wordpress injects your keywords inside the actual page due to different widgets and pre-made built which will increase your density compared to the original article you are trying to post.

Yes the SEOquake plugin is calculating it in the right way. The Yoast plugin only takes into account the keyword density of the text in your post.

By far the best guide on starting an authority site, really appreciate this.

Also, I'm eagerly waiting for your web 2.0 post and especially the private blog network post as I really wanna start making my own network now.

Great information you provide here phpbuilt. I have finished reading all 12 pages and maybe someone have (or not) asked this question:

You said that if our site link out to another site, it will give our PR to that site, but gain relevancy on our site right?
In case of affiliate link, let say Amazon.com, I planned to put many call-to-action like "buy now", "click here to get more deal on amazon.com" on my homepage that link to the amazon with my affiliate ID. There will be too much outbound link from my page and also, outbound link for the same link would not be good right? Should i no-follow the link? If i no-follow the link, will i lose the pr? What is your view in this?
Anyone who can help will be much appreciate. Love to hear many suggestion/opinions

Cheers

You should be no-following all affiliate links, regardless of PR.

I fixed a site, been few weeks already, slightly changes some pages still rank no best than 200 some are not in the first 300 dont know how to check further google just stop giving results.

But the Ranking in Bing and Yahoo are outstanding.

I have fixed all the density for all the pages, now all is ok, match keyword internal linking have been removed, linking from all the pages with exact keyword to the home page have been removed, I think I did most if not all.

How I can check al the backlinks to the site? I found some websites, but the free version give few results, I have webmaster tool, and found out that i have websites linking to me with my exact website.com has anchor, that is also the main keyword of the homepage. So may be this is an issue too, will need to add more backlinks with different anchor.

I want also ask, how many internal backlinks to a page of the site you raccomend? Example I have pages that get up to 20 internal pages that link to them, use to have the exact keyword for the word for anchor but I have changed it, but still contain part of it.

What do you think? I should lower the pager that link to another page? or/and use different keywords?

Thanks

I dont see any other overoptimiztion,I think what is left is only the linking external or internal.

QUESTION:

If there are hard to fill words in the text (like "how", "fast", "quickly") then can I just add them at the end of my page in a way: Tags: [kw, kw, kw] or would it have no effect/be considered as kw stuffing?

Found a gold mine, thank you for the read. Great name by the way :)

Hiho, i still battle my over optimization. i have the following problem right now: the Article ranks for 2 keywords: Green Fancy Widget, Red Fancy Widget
at a keyword desity of 1% for Green Fancy Widget and Red Fancy Widget i'm at 2% for Fancy Widget. what is my best option here?

I've been following your guide and it really improved my rankings. My question now is, when should I start building links? I'm seeing some of my keywords' ranks stabilizing and staying within 5-10 ranks of themselves everyday. Is this the green light to start building links for them? Also, would you recommend building links on any keywords between the 50-100 positions or should I try to rewrite the article to get them to drop down the the 20-30's? Thanks in advance.

I've been meaning to ask this. If you have one over-optimized page on your website, does Google penalize your entire site?

I hardly use exact match anchors ,always using partial match anchors .What do you think of it?I find that it's a little hard to get a page rank by using partial match anchors. But I don't know whether it is a result of it.Thanks!

Suppose I am building a website about red widgets . Which of the following uri structure is best .

Code:
brand.com/widgets/RedWidgets/SparklingRedWidgets/PremiumSparklingRedWidgets
or
Code:
brand.com/widgets/Red/Sparkling/Premium

I have read a quite contrasting articles about this . I have seen both of these structures ranking well , what would you prefer & why ?

I'm in the process of building an ecommerece site using the guide you had written on the fourms.
I've noted that you make your store nofollow/noindex and then link it to a blog. Would a subdomain work fine?

Are their any basic seo tips that you'd recommend that's not normally mentioned?
Also I don't know if this has been mentioned, but what wordpress plugins would you download?
