Php to show user the city name

I have searched but maybe I have done it wrong.

I am looking how to setup my lander so that it will say the visitors CITY NAME (by IP lookup) in one area so it will see like this :

"Our services has helped familys in CITY NAME"

I try a wordpress plugin GT-Geo Targeting but makes WP 3.0 error popup and nothing works like this.

I see old berrys news/blogs did this too.

How can this get done ?

I know to use maximind DB, but not how to display this like how I see it done.

edit: openx maybe this works on city level and make it text ad.
