Greetings! I Just wanted to know if an individual can make a living using PS cs6? Or if you know someone making a living out of it, by taking jobs from odesk, elance, and freelancer.com or some other freelancing sites? :)

Absolutely. Watch multiple tutorials. You can get them from youtube, tutorial websites, and torrent sites that have the paid for version of said tutorials. Graphic designers are needed because most web developers work with framework, functionality, and features. Not actual design concepts. You can also take the profits and follow Mr. Apricots advice.

Lol what kind of a question is that? Do you think all the photoshop experts on Freelancer just sit around all day with nothing to do, not having realised that Photoshop is dead? Of course it's possible. Now just go and do it.

Subscribe to 48hourslogo.com and start to produce Logos. If you are good in designing logos and websites design PM me I will need some works maybe.

Im sorry but not Graphic Designing guys, Graphic designing is at another level not for newbs, just you know, the retouching, enhancement, manipulation, etc. etc. and all these kind of skill in photoshop to make a living :)

Definitely. I know a few people who are in graphic design and they make quite a bit of money creating stuff for companies.

Graphic design (of quality) is still in demand by companies who take themselves more serious than Fiverr, just approach the right clients. As for basic enhancements and manipulation, that sounds like something you could offer regular people OR if you're really good, make bizarre images that go viral and bank on ads.

You can make a lot of money with Photoshop only. Maybe not be a millionaire, but it really depends on how many customers you attract.

Simply if you provide insanely good 3D graphics maybe. But sooner or later you will need more than just photoshop to develop beast images.

+1 on this. The photo restoration sounds like it will attract the older crowd who have tons of photos in need of repair, and have the money to do so. Just constantly improve and showcase your best work on your website (remember to keep the website easy to navigate & fast.) I have a team of genuine artists that draw by hand so I'm not aware of other software, I am familiar with ToonBoom animation though.

Funkybunker, I hate to hijack this thread, but perhaps you could elaborate on this? It seems every time I make a viral image it gets stolen and ends up being shared by everyone and their uncle, but no one makes it to a page of mine with ads. Thanks

Host them on your own website, then drive traffic to it yourself. Get friends to spread the images as well (linking to your website.) You can add watermarks like 9Gag but, while the previous method isn't the most immediate theft protection, it will assure more people seen it from you first. Give Digimark a try as well, it's not free but you'll know who stole your images and have rights to take legal action. You won't prevent theft but you will bank on it.

To give you a true answer, no it is not easy to beat the online competition. It is better to get into a good offline company in the field and climb the success ladder there. Later, you can form an association with similar-minded very skilled people and open an online company, and achive success there too. Every other job you can do at your present skills-level, will and can be done by people who are already working as established freelancers. And in the online marketplaces like elance, guru, etc., those top freelancers have so many positive feedbacks that almost nobody will be interested in employing a novice who doesn't even have an impressive portfolio of mock projects. That's the reality... even if you find a job here and there, usually earning only a few dollars, it will be difficult to find consistent workload.

But may be you're luckier and different, so who knows? :)

Forget about CS6, there is a newer version called Photoshop CC.

I disagree with almost everyone that has posted here. First year out of highschool I taught myself photoshop and started a BST here and started freelancing. I was making a fulltime living designing for a year then stopped because I HATE dealing with clients.

My advice, start designing logos for different projects you 'might' do just to get used to branding companies. There's plenty of places to get quick design jobs.

In the future, don't start threads about ideas you have.. Do like Nike says and just do it :)

Mr. srb888 Do you think even with this existing Competition, is it possible to make 1k dollars a month? :)

Of course it is possible, and of course you can have limitless abundance! But for that (the latter) you'll need to be an exceptionally good and very lucky IM'er/Photoshopper! My other observation holds true for the general PS'er, but to one who's determined to win, and who will work to make it possible, for him nothing's impossible, btw! ;)

P.S.: Btw, how good a PS'er do you know you are? :)
