I read somewhere that after you phone verify an account, as long as you just go to profile and remove the phone number, you can re use the same number over and over? Is that true? Technically ig would have to delete this data completely if you request them to?

For me it's totally lottery, maybe 1/5 account work with few times with several number but no more ;/ The same number works better for verification.

I wouldn't risk it if you appreciate the account.

In the short term, for spammy accounts, you can give it a try.

But if you're serious about the account in the long run, I wouldn't really recommend you this.

Look at IG data retention policies. Also, getting new numbers for SMS verification is not a big deal (depends on which country numbers you looking after).
