Phone Verification Number (Permanent/Non-Temporary)

Hey guys,

Found a few threads on this but many were outdated.

So I live in Canada where SIM Card/Burner accounts are an arm and a leg ($15/month). And also just a hassle (ie. need to keep reloading to have number)...

So a couple of questions:
1. If using Twitter, responsibly for automation, how long should I have the phone number?
2. More importantly, are there any online sources that work with Twitter SMS Verification? I tried voip.ms with no luck.

I am NOT looking for a free service. I am perfectly fine with paying, but looking for something that actually works.

I have the same question too. I live in a country where sim cards cost less than one dollar of one time payment, but still you need to actually use them or they will be disabled eventually. It would be good to have a permanent phone number service with numbers that twitter trust (for high value accounts) and that works as long as you are paying it.

Currently there are some websites that offer paid sms-reception and if you need that number next time you can re-buy it, but it will cost little more than the first time, just google it

I'm still looking for a solution here.
Tried multiple VOIP based SMS services (VOIP.ms and PingMe) and Twitter wouldnt accept either.

I think for Canadians we are looking at simply getting a $15/month prepaid card with Mobile or Koodo?

If it's truly that expensive to set up in Canada, you could ask a friend that lives in the US or some country with long term activated plans to let you plug in an SMS gateway device at their house. Then you can set the gateway to automatically send you all SMSs received via email.

For example, I have a gateway set up in one of our offices in the UK for when I need to run British identities. All you need to do is preconfigure the box then ask them to buy some SIMs (which you can activate online if your associate takes a photo of the ICCID / IMEI codes). They just need to pop them out and slot them into the device and connect the ethernet for internet connectivity (ie to provide a way for the API to forward you email copies).
