Personal rant, Facebook started hurting me as a user

In last couple of weeks, I've found that Facebook is bugging me as a regular user. I can't send friend request to people to whom I don't have similar friends with.

My credit card info that I used for purchusing ads is also blocked in the system and therefore can't be removed, nor deleted. (unless I add another one)

I have issues when I want to activate my account when traveling abroad (a.k.a roadblock and I don't know 90% of my 1000 friends)

Some of my new accounts got phone verification roadblock the momment they were created. (not personal issue, but view it from users perspective, you logged into a website and it automatically asks you your personal informaiton)

With all the privacy issues popping here and there, what do you think? Will this slow down Facebook's progression? Or we just have to wait for them to lower their guard a bit?

Lots of my real life non spamming friends got banned...

If it wasn't for my work in which I get paid I would quit with Facebook a month ago.

Anyone else waiting for Google me/Diaspora?

Personally, I think this is the ideal time for a new social network to launch as facebook is so vulnerable.

A) People are fed up of spam
B) As you said people are getting banned even though they're legit. About 20 of my 500 or so legit friends have been banned this month.
C) The news feeds are so dead unless the people are farmville/mafia wars friends.
D) People are fed up of these shitty warnings - they're just deterring the new users.

Heard a couple of Social Networks are launching soon so fingers crossed they take down Mark Fuckerberg and his crew >:]
 
I'm DESERATELY waiting for the next social titan to take a stand...Whether it be Google Me or any other social network...

Facebook's ad department makes me SO mad and defies ALL logic of successful, money making business. I'm a big-ish spender on there and I had to BATTLE my way into getting a spending account that works...

I drove to Palo Alto, wrote them constantly, filed a BBB complaint against them, called the few contacts I had within FB...I even bribed somebody with a lot of money to get me a spending account...Call me crazy, but it I asked a normal business if they wanted $5000 every day, they would accept.

My favorite FB moment was during a phone call with the sales team - We had a scheduled appointment and spoke for a little bit before he said the following - "Yeah, looks like the best fit for you would be to email affiliates@face...." I waited months to talk to this jacka$$ so I could learn about who to email?!!?! My point is...They havent been listed at any marketing conferences lately...Marketing makes money, and their team is probably just wrapped up in a few massive accounts and not worrying about the millions of dollars floating around the affiliate space...Geeyawd, Im done ranting...

ANSWER = Geeyawd, please release Google Me
 
i was againts all that stories about privacy and people deleting their accounts, but now with this problems many facing and me iam just waiting for a new social network, i don't have any other words for them but this one facebook = ridiculous

My main problem is about adding people that i know or are from my area and the very few limit we can add per day, people want a social network to know new people, not to just add their real friends, that's the natural world, in real life or in virtual, for bussiness man i can think its very hard now. I just hope a new social network will stop that kid and their staff, i really hope that.
 
Facebook is about to be hurt, i dont think they will be on top for much longer, they remind me of myspace before they went down.

A) I don't get much spam
b) Nobody I know has been deleted at all.
c) you can stop mafia wars/farmville posts from showing up on your news feed.
d) warnings for what? you don't get warning if you don't spam facebook :0


nobody I know at all is having FB problems :) nor have i ever got any captcha's etc...


facebook is good.. just people don't know how to use it correctly + privacy settings pretty simple

really? it seems you dont know the problems of facebook because you dont do nothing, i mean what the normals user would do, if you are a very passive user you dont get warnings. If you behave normal you do get warnings.

What do you mean? i use FB all the time, as well as alot of friends like alot

I have posted spammy links on my personal account
and a few other account's?

But i guess i knew a few things these USA fb using people don't
 
Yeah, so I was finally gonna give in and get a personal FB the other day. Then the next day I heard they were trying to trademark 'Face'.

FUCK FB! For a myriad of reasons, some of you here know, most of you probably dont.

I am excited about diaspora. I will be using it. I hope to connect w/ the BHW family. :)

@Darkmarth That's insane. But believable as well. I remember hearing in that FB adpower seminar that they are like that to people who spend 10k+ a day. It's beyond me.

@OP Thanks for the post, I was going to try my hand at FB ads and was thinking of using real cc, definitely not now.
 
Facebook's ad department and Account operations team totally suck, they are possibly the worst I have dealt with, you get better service of Indian call centers who get paid 2 cents a hour!!!

Its true if your not an agency pumping millions into Facebook they will not care about the little guy...

icant add 70% of people from my erea that lives 5 miles away with mutual friends, iam done with facebook, fuk them, google me i hope you do a good job destroying their shit, please.

this was a case, maybe week ago, but it no longer is, and, you can add them fine if you add them by their email.
 
Ironic thing is, FB is hardest social networking site to spam, what makes you think a next one gon be let up easy?
 
I do think Facebook will be on the decline soon; however, Facebook is bigger now than Myspace ever was. Facebook is going to need more bad press for people to stop using it.

I think people are starting to get tired of Facebook. As someone who has been on the site since 2005, I can tell you that I don't enjoy surfing the site much anymore.

In my opinion, the best thing Facebook can do right now is to come out with their own search engine. It would immediately take over Bing/Yahoo in searches. Facebook might be the only company right now that has enough users to mount a serious challenge to the Google search engine. They could launch an ad during the Super Bowl in January, and many people would start using it!
 
I have repeatedly said while there and after: Do not put information up that you cannot afford to lose. Although they cannot sell your credit information, it is a third party site that does not comply with banking and credit laws.

There is alot of talk about "When is Facebook going to decline?" and "People are fed up with Facebook". Also, people are hyping up Facebook's value more than a penny stock promoter on a discussion forum. Facebook is apparently quoted as valued as $33 billion. They are now waiting to IPO in 2012. BIG mistake. They're huge now and I don't believe they're worth $33 billion.

The "next thing" is still miles away from Facebook. Already Facebook is leaving a stale taste in alot of peoples mouth. It is starting to be yesterday's news. They will be caught sleeping under a tree when the turtle passes them up.
 
To stop using FB for SN, would be to stop using Google to search. 500 Million users will not pack up and leave just cuz? Find a better way to do what you do, there are always loops...
