Personal name ranking problem

The problem I have is that years ago I got in trouble with the law, now when you type my name and town into google the news story comes up, the news is over 10 years old, the site its on has a page rank of 6...Is their any hope of me filling up the first few pages of google with positive storys about myself and pushing this away....

Could be a niche in the market for personal first page domination for name and place....as alot of employers etc will google this before hiring

any ideas???

I bought an EMD and it took my first position very easily... Above Facebook, LinkedIn, etc... so yes, it's very possible.

If the comments are not moderated, jus spam the page with comments like hel.
Post viagra links, sex toys and what not. Should work.

Make a twitter, facebook, myspace, linkedin, blogspot, and a site with your name in it. Link your site to all the social sites and link back to your site. Be active on all of em and build some links to your social networks. That might not knock em off the first page but you can probably take the first few spots.

Have linked in/facebook/twitter may go for some more web2 properties and the EMD adn some linking...any other ideas??
