Yeah it will of course yield results, aged domains work best for obvious reasons, fire some high pr authority links at the site too along with these would be my advice, also adding new content to an inner page to create the "freshness" effect and then firing these links will appear as if the new content is going viral in Googles eyes.. There are numerous ways to approach this though, check out "TIPS" in the OP!
