Can't get it to work by redirecting DBC traffic through hosts file (DBC API throws errors), I assume that's what you meant didn't work. I'll try it the next couple of days through direct HTTP POSTing and provide with a review.

Is there python sample code? I wish the captcha solvers would conform to a standard API...

Decaptcher API is pretty much the "standard API", there is likely a source file with a Pythonesque API out there. Regarding this service, I still couldn't try it properly, didn't find the time. One thing that I should point out though, is that the APIs presented don't seem really in line with each other. For example, some use different input names in their forms, not sure what do you make of that. I'm having a rough time migrating my tester from DBC to BestDecaptcha, will provide results asap, probably reaching the weekend.

sorry for the delay, OP, was really busy lately, just wanted to test this out, tried your decaptcha api but it doesn't seem to be working, put everything in the hosts file, restarted the software as instructed and it's not working, I couldn't find anything anywhere about the port, should I change that to something else, for me for decaptcha it's 15015 .
