The majority of my tumblrs are still standing and I have some accounts that are older than 1 year.
What I think it keeps me on the safe side are 2 things:
1. Different IP when registering/loging in. Every time I reconnect to internet I get a new IP.. so it's easy for me.
2. When I have to post on tumblr I use their Email Publishing feature (see details here: tumblr.com/docs/en/email_publishing).
For that function I simply open an email (preferably the same I used to register the account). I upload a picture and the article I want to post. To make a link I simply insert the link in html format .. <a href="...
