I received my report for a 250 directory submission and I realized that many of these directories are down.

I initially wanted to order the weekly special of 3000 but after seeing this I was rather discouraged.

What if the 3000 directories are like these too?

I checked around 6 top directories and my link has not been accepted.

Alright, let me tell you what this 'weird reason' might be. When you copy from an excel spreadsheet cell and paste it directly into your browser's address bar, a space gets added at last (this may be the case with yours too). When a space is added to the URL, the website is probably not going to open.

Regarding the SE links, I will have to admit that 250 submissions is not going to wonders in your SERPs, and very specially, within 3 days after those submissions were done. You might want to know that most of these directories are human-edited and the directory owner(s)/editor(s), review the submitted links at their leisure. Talking about the top PR directories not accepting your links yet, I hope that my above explanation will tell you the story. It is only after the directory publishes your link, the search engines can crawl and index those links back to your website. So, if you had wanted for few links in a shorter time frame, you should have tried other SEO things, Sir.
