I did 45% brand name, 45% url link and 10% target keyword. If this is bad is there anyway i can change it

I know I'm late, but I've ranked a very competitive, 100,000ms keyword with that exact same strategy. Brand new site too. Speedrank was the only links I built. If you're already ranking top 30 for your keyword, Google knows what the page is about. I only build brand/url links from that point on. I'm done getting penalties... you just don't need many exact match keywords anymore. And that's the easiest and quickest way to trip an algorithmic penalty. Just my 2cents.
