I figured out how to get it working.
Make sure in your settings that you keep the Country on "All countries", the language type on English and the Match type on "Exact" and you will get all of the results.
The only thing we need now is two options for the include and exclude keywords, because there is no checkbox for "closely related keywords" anymore. However if you know how to use UNF, you'll know to use the keyword filter.

"Closely Related Keywords" function does not seem to be working.

I believe the closely related keyword function in Planner has been removed now. ?
I'm not able to pull any search number data, but its pulling the keywords and cpc. will this be fixed soon?

Ok im not sure if im the only one facing this issue but once i delete the keywords and try to add new keyword it stays stuck on [downloading], so every time i have to restart the UNF to add and expand new keyword.

My results so far.
1) Just updated the software.
2) Started a new campaign
3) My settings are United States - English - Exact Match - Show only closely related keywords - using my personal adwords account.
4) Searched the keyword web hosting got 34 keywords - then expanded and got 121 keywords noticed that 6 of the keywords were in arabic which is strange.
It expands the keywords for me but got some in arabic.
Will keep testing and report back.

Try logging in manually to Google Planner and make a Run with the settings you want (All locations, all languages, etc)
Then go back to UNF and run it. That worked for me to get rid of the arabic issues

The expansion feature still doesn't work on my end after the update. I tried with different settings: USA-English; All countries-English, All countries-all languages, but I always get the same result, i.e: keywords don't get expanded.

I'm facing the same issue, although it does work sometimes when i restart UNF but not all the time, im using All Countries-English.
