Can you add proxy sites?

Yes, I'm able to add proxy sites. Under Configuration -> Proxy Fetching URLs -> Add Button.

i played a lot around with automation and could not get what i want.
A big growing list with proxies retested by a time i set.
So i have this idea.

Is it possible to let PM test all proxies it can get and just let it write
the good once every x minutes?
You just have to change two parameters.
write time: Statik interval where the working proxies are stored to file/ftp/mail
retesting time: time after a working proxy should be retested

The big advantage would be that always good proxies are retested and stored
and the list is still growing cause the proxy list does not have to be limited.

I do not understand why i should limit my proxy list just to
get the automation run in shorter cycles? If i have to limit my proxy list just
to get fresh proxies in time i loose a lot of the power of this great piece of software.

Or may be i am totaly wrong i does not understand the automation?
In my test i just get two options scraping for hours with proxies which are
for hours out of date cause PM is testing 1 Mio proxies until it writes again or
i have a limited proxy list to 5000 with a amount of about 100 working proxies
which does not get more.

Please perform the following:

* Click Configure
* Select 'Proxy Fetching URLs' on the left
* Click the 'Clear List' button (NOTE this will delete all of your URLs!)
* Click Save
* Open the Configure window again, select Proxy Fetching URLs, but this time click 'Reload Default URLs'. You may have to click it a few times for the list to populate, but it should load over 100 proxy sources (nearly 200).

Great question, senuke. The program is either scraping or testing proxies, as you know. At the end of the testing session, it will write out the proxy list. As you mentioned, with 1,000,000+ proxy list sizes, this can become inconvenient. The 'resting time' you mentioned is defined under Configure -> General ("Do not re-test proxy if it was tested within the last ____ minutes"). As long as you enable and configure that option, it should fulfill your needs.

In terms of the write cycle issue, I will issue an update to write to file (or upload to FTP) every ___ minutes according to whatever the automation threshold is set at. That should solve your problem and allow lists to be updated frequently. Look for the update later tonight (about 4 hours from this post time) and be sure to post back letting me know how it works out for you. The setting will be found under Configure -> Automation, checkbox at the bottom: "Output to file and upload to FTP at every above specified interval"

Hi there, I get this notice on all my proxy searches: "Found 0 more websites with proxies." Is there a typical fix for this? I searched a few of the proxies in google and found that they bring up other websites. Just checking if I'm doing something wrong

In a few minutes i have 10k proxies. Well PM is fast but this looks strange to me.

I guess you have to change the code to store just the tested once ;-)
or may be to run the filter before storing (Google enabled, anonymous e.t.c.) ?

Not sure. What i can tell you is the the proxies in the file are about 20k and the
working proxy in the PM section shows about 100.

Go: Configure -> HTTP Proxy Testing ->
Select "Check Proxies against a specific URL"
Enter the URL you want to test against

Simosilmu, sometimes this is due to software or hardware difficulties on the PC. Open Proxy Multiply and click 'Proxy Type' in the menu bar and select 'Proxies for all purposes' 2 items down. If you still are not finding proxies after that, click the 'Get Proxies' button, and let it scrape/test for at least 20 minutes, then post the contents of the status log (bottom right hand corner) here so I can analyze it.

Good call, it should only save tested proxies! Usually it only exports once the proxies are tested, so it hasn't accounted for that variable. I've posted an update that should resolve the issue. Thanks for the feedback!

The update shouldn't have affected proxy testing. If anything it would have improved it because search engines were fixed in the update. Thanks for cutting me slack though

Hi Uro, thanks for being a long time supporter! In the past few months, everyone has had issues with getting good proxies, because the search engines have been changing their websites and making our code require updating. However, just last week we issued another update that should resolve the issue.

You could have indeed impacted the URL scraping by adding your own URLs - if you added URLs that have large lists of outdated proxies (don't forget about the ability to crawl URLs recursively using Configure->General->"When Crawling a page, also crawl links on that page"), it will fill your lists with junk. Especially if you have that recursive crawl option enabled; that means if there are links to old proxy lists on the pages, it will scrape those and fill your list with junk. You could try disabling that recursive crawl option. You could also open the Configure -> Proxy Fetching URLs window, export your current URL list to a file, and then clear the list. After you have cleared it, click save. Then re-open the Configure->Proxy Fetching URLs window and click 'Reload Default URLs'. You may need to click it a few times. Then you will have the stock list you can experiment with and compare your results.

Lastly, I think there was a miscommunication. I don't know where people can buy sources of proxy URLs nor do I sell them. We update the list in PM periodically. It's a free courtesy.

Hi deki33, great question. Yes it can upload to FTP. You can configure this under Configure -> Automation -> FTP Upload. It will overwrite the file every time.

Open Proxy Multiply, select Proxy Type in the menu, and then click 'Twitter enabled proxies' about 3/4 of the way down. You may also wish to select 'Anonymous proxies only' to boost the success rate.
