You just need to go to the members area, login using your login details and download the installer from the downloads page. If you get a message stating your license has been installed on too many machines then get in touch and I'll reset your machine list for you.
There is a bug with the trial where on some machines the link checker doesn't work. You can check the pages that links are posted to by right clicking on a profile and then output the list of confirmed links to a .txt file and then manually check or put through a link checker. If NHSEO says it is creating links though then it definitely is creating links.
Using private proxies for searching will allow you to run more searching threads without getting limited by the search engines and it will also allow you to limit your links by PR (I personally don't use this option) and also for obviously hiding your IP address when posting. However that is not to say that proxies are needed, you can run NHSEO without proxies and it will create hundreds of links daily.

As it happens the update released just now has support for DeathByCaptcha and ImageTyperz. I wanted to have ShaniBPO added but was not able to get access to their service for some silly reasons (not the fault of ShaniBPO).
If anyone has any suggestions for other captcha solving services just post them here and Il look to get them added for next update.

Sorry if someone brought this up already, but, is anyone having problems with NHSEO saying "failed: couldn't determine platform" in the log area, while the software is running?

This is a feature that will be added, I can't say when just yet but it will be in at some point.
This is normal. No matter how specific the platform search queries are the search engines will always return some results that are not relevant and/or do not have a form that would accept links so they are logged under "couldn't determine platform".
I wish the results of the search engines were as good as they were a year or two ago but for some reason Google seems to be racing to the bottom and Yahoo/Bing haven't been improving at the rate I hoped they would. Maybe a future Google update will get them back to where they were but I wouldn't count on that any time soon tbh.

There is a free trial available at the website, it is currently running on v1.7.18 whereas the full version is at v2.0.6 with many more platforms and other improvements. The trial does work fine though and can be used for a full 7 days without any other limitations.
The results you see will depend on not just how you use the tool but many other general ranking factors including your content, website structure as well as many other factors such as your competition, website age etc. There are a lot of different factors when your rankings are taken into consideration but you can improve your chances of ranking improvements by following some basic "best practices" when using No Hands SEO and other backlinking tools.
When doing any backlinking it is wise to at least think of the following:
Anchor text diversity - Make sure that you are not just targeting 1 anchor text as it looks more natural and allows you to catch more keywords from searches.
Generic anchor texts - Recently adding in some generic anchor texts such as website, click here, read more, link etc. To add the example anchor texts using spinning you would enter {website|click here|read more|link|ADD YOUR OTHER ANCHOR TEXTS HERE}
Proxies - ideally these would be private, adding proxies allows you to run with more searching threads, improve chance of link not ending up in spam folder (hide your original IP address) and limit by PR
Vague but related search keywords - the search keywords will be what is used for searching for targets to post to and then when they are exhausted NHSEO will find keywords related to those for searching with. Making these keywords as vague as possible while still being related to your niche will allow NHSEO to find as many related websites to post to as possible.
Custom Comments - when linking direct to any website it is always a good idea to spend a bit of time writing a well spun custom comment for each profile. Custom comments ensure more relevancy to your links and produce less of a footprint in your linking profile so it should look more natural.
Don't just link the homepage of a website - with NHSEO if you enter your website in as a website profile it will crawl your website for inner pages (you can set a limit for this) and that way you can use the Profile Handler to give the different pages different anchor texts and really target specific keywords for specific pages.
While the above won't guarantee high rankings (nothing will for some websites) because nothing can guarantee anything as far as rankings go but by following some basic guidelines and taking a few extra minutes to setup your profiles you will gain the most benefit possible.

Yep, you can enter in as many URLs to different web properties to as many, or few, profiles as you wish.

I'm using the %NL% variable in some places, but the comments seem to break.
Example comment template.
Hi there,%NL%

How are you?%NL%
%NL%
Goodbye!
In this case the comments posted only included the part without the Goodbye:
"Hi there,
How are you?"
The ending was cut off from all posted comments. Any idea why?

The %NL% should be used instead of a new line not as well as a new line. So your example should be as below:
Hi there,%NL%%NL%How are you?%NL%%NL%Goodbye!
If you want to see the output as you are typing and changing the text you can right-click on any spinnable input and choose to "Open Text Rewriter", this makes spinning text so much easier to write and lessens the chance of making mistakes as you can see the changing output as you go.

see these are silly answers for a silly question, tools will not get you risk, in fact tools were made to make life more enjoyable, do you want to screw in 200 screws by hand with a screwdriver, to build a patio or use a powerdrill?
the tool is only as good as how it is used and the person using the tool.
