Sounds like you are running more threads than your internet connection can sustain. You could try lowering the number of "Max Threads" in the Setting=>More App Settings

I had the max threads on 18 and havw now turned it down to 14. Also fyi I have allowing searching threads on 7.

Can you look at my connection and help me optimize NHSEO to get the best results?

I am only running one profile.

I was actually doing a link check every time it reached a new hundred (100, 200, 300, 400..) I was very surprised to see the confirmed links shrink from 800 to 380 which is why I made this thread. In the past when it reached 700 and I checked confirmed links it went to 600 so not as dramatic as 800 to 380..

Do I now have to use the check link on 'all' to try and get some of the lost confirmed links back? I know you advise to keep building links and dont do a check link but for me to loose 700 links within 5 minutes swoop is ridiculous! Like I said it was on 800 and I kept doing a link check and now its gone from 800 to 80. No joke :(

I don't want to link check anymore because it looks like its going to say 0 confirmed links soon!

You haven't lost any backlinks (by performing a link check) you have an issue with your connection or have a windows proxy set that cannot handle that many connections. What will be happening is that X% of internet requests are being lost due to dropped packets, bad proxy or meddling AV scanner etc etc

There are literally an endless list of things it could be, the fact is though that by running the link checker you are not losing links its just that something is happening with your connection such that webpages are coming back blank and because of thet NHSEO is unable to find your link on it. To find these linking pages again you will first need to debug what is wrong with your system/internet connection and then do another link check on all posts.

Spent a few hours reading all the comments looks like a promising tool in comparrison to many other products being offered here. Ive always built my links naturally but as i build, rank then sell if this helps a little its a bonus on time, all my sites have excellent on page SEO and always rank well very quickly so looking forward in seeing if there are any benefits with this tool
Trial period first :)

Some of the private proxies I had on the 'Proxy for posting' field had expired but there are working ones.. Would some of these failed private proxies effected the check links?

I pay for the best inet connection and don't share it. My system is pretty good and not much running and nothing has changed apart so why the check links jumped from 800 to 400 and it didnt do that in the past I can't image it be my inet or system so maybe it is the expired proxies?

It could definitely have something to do with your proxies. Also internet connections are not faultless. I pay for the best connection possible round here and the highest amount of bandwidth but the phone line is still a physical entity that is subject to the weather and other external forces.

I would suggest to run a test at pingtest.net to see if you have any packet loss and also remove any and all unreliable proxies from the posting and searching fields. If any proxy is unreliable or flat out not working it will impact the numbers.

Again I would just like to assure you that just because the links are not being found in a link check does not necessarily mean that the link is no longer live. It is possible that after posting for a period of weeks that some of the links may no longer be active, just as it is possible that previously unconfirmed links are now live, but the %age should be small and the number will not decrease on every subsequent check unless there is a connection/proxy issue.

Just to waffle on some more, if you want accurate confirmed link numbers I would suggest you remove proxies from posting and searching (or just uncheck the use proxies options), restart the app and then check the links (checking unconfirmed should find all other links that are currently "lost").

I hope that helps.

Before reading your recent reply I have been checking all the unconfirmed and unchecked links and I see the confirmed count has gone up from lows of 80 to 298. I haven't however implemented what you recommended on your last paragraph which I will try now so will hopefully get better results. Thanks for your support. :)

One more piece of advice would be to check you are not running Windows with a proxy, you can check and remove for this using the guide below, if you have a windows proxy set and it only allows 10 connections at a time (quite a common number) then your 14 -18 threads will be overloading it and cause many requests to be lost.

Have you added the profile before hitting start? If so check that the profile is set to active and not been deactivated. If it is added and active you need to look in the log at what is happening, if you are seeing the same as kromme then following the directions below also.

You need to either add in some private proxies, enable the proxy harvester or use some third party proxy harvesting tool to do the proxy harvesting for you.

Without searching proxies you will be unable to get any search results so the proxies for searching needs to be set up in one of the above ways.

Thanks for the advice. I followed your instructions and I never had 'Use a proxy server for your LAN' enabled.

Anchor Text, how much can i create? i know the example from the software have 3 {example1|example2|example3}. Is there a limit to how much i can have in the anchor text? im on a tube site so i would like to add as many of the special category in that box.

You can add as many anchor texts as long as it is correctly formatted, the little indicator to the right of the anchor text input will be a tick when it is valid spinning text and a red cross if it isn't valid.

Damn! im already sold with what i read about this tool!
One small question though, whats average daily amount of backlinks a website can get with 1 instance of the program running, assuming that all my settings are set to default? :)

will this software run on a Mac?
i would like to know about this too :)

how do i add footprints like site:.edu or inurl :.edu
in blog commenting foot print option..
and also what if i only want blog commenting...no other thing..is it good..or do i have to enable whois and trackback thing too

You will need to use some software such as parallels or a VM running a copy of Windows.

Due to the huge variance in how it is set up you could literally get anywhere from 0 to 100,000+ in a day, it is all in how you run it.

With all default settings you can expect about 50-250 links per day or more but again it is dependant on the search keywords that are entered, some sets of search keywords can be multiply times as effective as others.

Using private proxies will make it very easy to increase the average links to around 250-1500+. It really depends on so many factors, just bumping up the threads will get you so much more, for example simply increasing the number threads from the default 15 (max is 150) will increase the amount of work NHSEO is able to do.

I ran a test a few days ago at 50 threads on 3 profiles using private proxies and in less than 5 hours I got 677, 236, 151 links across the different profiles. So in less than 5 hours I was able to get 1064 links.

I also ran a test at 35 threads with harvested proxies with 2 profiles for about 8 hours and they received 307 and 150 links for a total of 457 links.

Both tests were run with mostly default settings other than threads and proxy settings.

If you are unsure what you are doing don't touch the footprint options, there is too much scope for making the tool unable to run. For limiting your links you should use the settings in the Profile Handler's "Profile Specific Settings" tab using the "Domain Specific Searching" input. Simply enter into this box .edu and you will limit the links you get.

Be warned though that using this option will reduce the amount of posts you can make and as such will dramatically lower the number of links NHSEO is able to make.

Hi Jimbobo,

When I import a list to NHSSEO how do I know that's the work is finished?
It's seem's it can process a very very long time and I'n not sure it's not freezing...

Thank's for your answer
Francois

Hi, just an update on my check link status. I finished checking the 'unconfirmed all' links and my confirmed link count has now jumped all the way to 976! Wohoo thanks jimbobo2779!

It doesn't finish. If you import a list of targets and let it post to them it will then start searching and posting based on the profile you entered.

Just to set the record straight, NHSEO does not freeze. There was a bug that affected a small amount of users earlier this months but since v1.6.25 (released Feb 12th) I have not even had a single bug reported. I am not targetting you specifically with that last sentence, I have just noticed a lot of users claiming temporary freezes and similar things when that hasn't been the case at all.

If you are wondering what is happening at any time simply look in the log and you will see what is going on in real-time.
