Well Todor, To be Honest as always, It Works Both the Way for me. I Have a Few Adsense Sites which i have tested both the way. I have Personally targeted a Loan site with well 2k Exact Searches quite competitive and I Have Ranked it for its Exact Keyword on #10 for a Pretty Long time. Have a look at the Image below.

That Really took me 3 Months, Constant Profile Backlinks. I Never Stop it Over Here, Once i Create the Backlinks i blast those Backlinks with Xrumer to add more weightage to those Links.

P.S Doing Xrumer and Scrapebox Blasts Works well to those tiered links, when compare to other Indexing Platforms.

now the Other way, you Keep doing Social Bookmarking and Article Directories and Blasting them with Xrumer or SB gave me the Same Results.
So, I think Everything Works, Its all about the way use them.

Just Creating Backlinks and Expecting to Rank #1 is not Possible. you need to have some Link Diversity to Boost your Rankings! that's what i Suggest my Clients, Once i deliver the reports to them.

So to answer your Question, Well Its Better to point your Money site Directly to create backlinks. As it is a New domain, it will help Search engines to Rank your website for the Specified Keyword.

Once it starts to rank, You can Create Social Bookmarkings, web 2.0,article directories and Create HPR Profile Links to those buffers or do a massive Xrumer or SB Blasts will get it on top.
