Twitter has been sending reconfirmation requests by email to well established accounts also.

I have Twitter accounts which are around 1+ years old with tons of followers and even they receive the requests from Twitter for me to confirm that my email addresses are correct. I have not responded to these emails and then my accounts get banned.
