Just sent you another email. If anyone else is looking for a web designer or graphic designer, feel free to contact me :).

This service thread has been updated.

On a side note, I hired the OP to do a quick splash page for me and he did an outstanding job. It's clear he has a handle on design and pays attention to detail. A+ work and fast as lightning, highly recommended. :)

Alright, so I kind of let this thread die off a couple of months ago (I spent the last couple of months brushing up on my design skills), and now I'm back to offer my services to the general public of BHW.

Everything's in the main post including contact info, pricing, what I will and won't do, some samples of work etc, and theres reviews across the entire first page (mind you, my skills then don't compare to my skills now).

I'm knocking 10% off of all orders for the next 3 days to get this service kick-started again!

Do you have a portfolio site? If so would be handy to have a link to you, I get a lot of clients who need design :)

@Arby. Not at the moment no, but thanks :).

@rightg: I sent you a PM :).

I'm currently available for work if anyone's interested!

Just finished 2/3 jobs. Currently available to take on small projects over the weekend!

This review is based on the customer service provided by this OP :

When he first contacted me because I asked for a quote he seemed pretty polite. After talking to him for a bit I asked him about price because I thought $35 hr was maybe a bit high. Figuring since I was offering him 2 decently sized jobs he might be willing to knock some $$ off the price. But as soon as I asked that he starts saying "why the f u ( k did you contact me you saw my thread blah blah.." and why am i trying to "Combat him on price". Iv purchased alot of services from BHW sales threads and Iv never heard anyone as annoying as this guy. If this is how it is before you pay I could only imagine how it is if you ask for him to make changes or something.

Yousef is one of the best designers I've dealt with online.
He is patient and very organized. A++ communication.

Impressive design at a very affordable price. I have a shitload of sites waiting to be done and I'll definitely hire him again.

You contacted me having read my thread, which led me to believe that you'd acknowledged how much I charged per hour. You then proceed to tell me you want some kind of abstract art header/logo , combined with the LA skyline (is this what you're counting as two decently sized projects, because you switched between statements as though they were the same job?).

I then say that such an idea is going to be, and I quote, "exceptionally expensive" and "would take at least me at least a few hours", at which point you should have figured that it would be at least $105 (a few being 3, 3 * $35 is $105).

You ask me to tell you how much it costs, and I asked you to allow me to write-up a proposal, showing you the images that I would be using, cost, etc, so that there was no misunderstanding from the get go. You said, that you'd be back in 10 minutes after you took your shower.

At this point, I saw no reason to consider the possibility that you weren't going to be able to pay my hourly rate, as I've said before in this post, I thought you'd read my thread, acknowledged how much I charged, and were now just looking for a fixed figure.

I begin searching for images of the LA skyline to use in this work and create a full proposal for you (this is a good 27 minutes into our conversation), when you arrive back from your shower and say "make sure it's reasonably priced". I'm a little thrown-off. If you know how much I charge per hour, and I've stated that it'll take at least a few hours, you've got a rough ballpark figure already. If I say a few hours, I'm hardly going to charge $500, but nor am I going to charge $50, more along the lines of $105 - 140.

So, I respond with "It'll be priced at my rate. You've read my thread, so I assume you know my rate." To which, I get a "I'm not saying India wages... but decently priced" and "but I see you don't have an overflow of business either". This is a ridiculous point, the fact that my thread lacks an excessive amount of activity doesn't mean that I'm not selling my services, as well as the fact that you have no idea whether or not I offer my services elsewhere, or whether I'm working on something completely different. I respond "I've had a few decently sized projects over the past few days, at that same rate". You then say "the more the merrier".

At this point, I draw the line. I realize that you're clearly trying to combat me in every which way you can, rather than saying, "I'm not willing to pay your $35 an hour" at the start of our conversation, thus laying down the situation from the start, or when I begin to tell you that it'll be charged at my rate, you try to curve your way around my blatantly clear statements such as "it'll be charged at my rate", with comments like "but I see you don't have an overflow of business" and "the more the merrier".

At this point I snap, and ask as explicit a question as I possibly can "So, let me just get this out there, seeing as you seem to want to combat what I say; are you willing to have this project fixed priced on an an hourly estimate of $35 an hour?"

Finally, you come out with it, and reply "nope".

I'm real fucking annoyed at this point, after being led on for more than 30 minutes, and respond with "Well, then why the fuck did you contact me, having read my thread that clearly states the amount I charge?". You then respond, "u said you read my thread first" and "it says affordable". You're right, I did read it, and I was going to respond. However, I was going to respond telling you that your criteria was going to be hard to match, and that if you were willing to pay $35 an hour, I'd be willing to work on your project.

Just to re-cap, your criteria was; excellent English, 2 years or more experience with Photoshop, a great portfolio (I don't see why this is relevant if you're asking for experience, or better yet, why the experience is relevant if you're asking for the portfolio), and affordable rates (this is a subjective term, subject of course to what one thinks is and isn't affordable, however I was still going to include my hourly rate in the PM from the beginning to account for this). While I'm writing up a message to you, I travel over to my thread (to copy and paste it's URL), and lo' and behold, I see that you've made a post asking for me to PM you, hence assume as any reasonable person would that you'd read said thread, so deleted my comments in my pre-written message about how much I charged per hour.

I tell you that "affordable is subjective", to which you "ahh, just stfu... ur annoying". Great way to end a conversation.

Anyway, just thought everyone should know, seeing as he decides to take it upon himself to post his review on my thread, I feel that it's only right that I respond.

I'm more than happy to provide a transcript of the 30 minute long conversation we had on Skype should anyone feel the need to ask for it.

I also realize that my image is down on the first post. I accidentally deleted it from my imgur account, however I will be getting an image back up there (hosted at my server, so that I can upload/edit it when needed).

If you're interested in hiring me, please PM me, and I'll be happy to provide you with a link to my "sales image", which contains all my details.

After a month's or so hiatus, I'm back to offering my design and development services again :).

As you can see, my portfolio now features more detailed, diverse and quality screen shots of web pages, as oppose to the few rather similar logo screen shots that I had before.

I also now have a list of policies for prospective clients to eradicate 99% of potential issues with things such as deliveries, revisions etc, so that both parties are protected, and waste as little time as possible getting down to business.

Dealtime - I'm giving away 3 free banners (one each) to the next three people that post on this thread. Just drop a post, and you'll get a PM as soon as I see your post!

I would like a free banner...its actually a logo not banner if that's ok pm me
Thanks

One almost done, two slots left!
