Holy cow, It's been a while since I looked at blog sense since I've been out of the IM game for about a year but now that I'm back in the game hot and heavy again I took a look at blogsense again. I was one of the very first adopters of the plug-in back in 2009 and man has it improved a bunch. It has every feature I could ever think of needing and then some! Thebestspinner API integration is awesome and so far seems to be working great. Hudson, You've done a great job buddy! I'm excited to be playing with Blogsense again! it's going to make my job a lot easier now!

-K-

Yes this is an awesome script he has made. Few things to consider is the price is good for any newbie to startup. Server resources are much lower compared to some wp plugins. Support is there plus regular updates and he takes requests and tries to do them if its feasible.

Here?s what?s new inside BlogSense 9:

GLOBAL EDITING (editing en masse)

Are you looking to edit many campaigns at once but are loathing to open 25+ campaigns one by one? We now have a very precise global editing section where we can pinpoint campaigns and make modifications on individual settings. I?ve already had the opportunity to put this feature to use on a handful of my blogs. It?s really handy.
Credit for this one goes out to Terrence (PubDirLtd), who keeps the pressure on, fighting and lobbying in the name of BlogSense?s improvement.

DRAFT NOTIFICATION IMPROVEMENT (KEYWORD DENSITY REPORTS)
We?ve made it so that if draft notifications are turned on, that setting a post into the ?pending review? status will trigger an email report as well.
We?ve also added an automated keyword density report to the end of each draft notification, displaying the 3 word phrases, 2 word phrases, and single word occurrences and listing their # of occurrences and density.
Special thanks to Ralf (Ralf Skirr) who put down the request for this feature and explained how it might be beneficial to users who are filtering content for SEO quality, and also explaining how this will help in detecting the potent keywords for possible title restructuring and future SEO promotion.

CAMPAIGN AUTHOR SETTINGS
[RSS campaigns] ? We have a new author option. We can select ?Original Author ? Domain name? to include a ? ? domain.com? after there detected author?s name? ?domain.com? will be replace with the domain of whatever source the campaign is pulling content from.
[All campaigns] ? We have have the option to select ?Random Author?, which will randomly select an author id from the authors in the WordPress database.

RSS COMMENT SCRAPING
Here?s a bone for you. RSS comment scraping. This new feature can definitely make a grey area even greyer. Never-the-less this feature has it?s proper place within BlogSense. Please use responsibly?. Scrape parameters are setup manually. Preview mode will show you?re success.

BLOGSENSE CORE TEMPLATES & SHORTCODES

  • Added ability to modify the Youtube object-embed template. This will help control the width and height of video renders.
  • Redesigned the interface of the template editing section. Changed name from ?Post Templates? to ?Core Templates?. It?s very easy to navigate and edit templates now. Now our templateing system truly is state of the art.
  • By request, added the ability to have exclude keywords in theYoutube shortcode. This will help prevent sourcing of unwanted videos.

LASTLY

  • For the RSS module, added a filter to prevent posting content when the content link is found to be the same blog as the BlogSense installation. I noticed that on some of my sites where I use Google Alerts, my indexed content for that blog was being included in the alert and a cycle of duplicate content was ensuing. This fix takes care of this potential issue.
  • Removed the link cloaking features of BlogSense. I recommend using WP Traffic Tools to cloak your links. It permits on/off toggling where BlogSense?s cloaked links were permanent?. which in my opinion is not good. This loss will not affect your already cloaked links, but BlogSense will no longer cloak links internally.

I hope you find some joy in this latest release.

http://www.blogsense-wp.com/news/blogsense-9-released-wooooooooo-details-inside/

Hello BHW,

Today's release is very important. It significantly furthers BlogSense's power as a remote publishing tool for both status updates and remote blog posting.

For the longest time BlogSense, like many other WordPress plugins, has struggled with incorporating mass bookmarking services such as Ping.FM and HelloTxt because of their tightness on providing API keys to software developers. Finally we've found a potent replacement (Pixelpipe) that will allow us to further expand our automation efforts beyond Twitter.

Before I write a blog post, let me go over the powerful improvements now available to BlogSense users.

INTERNAL SPINNING
We now have a couple of extra spinning options that include this option ‘Salt with ASCII'. It turns out that letters can be converted to HTML ASCII that looks something like this: ‘hi ‘, which Google and web browsers read as ‘hi', and at the same time consider it a unique rendering of content. We've added this option for those who would like to experiment with it's extra uniqifying quality.

PIXEL PIPE - REMOTE PUBLISHING
We can use pixel pipe to remote publish to web2.0 properties such as blogger. The downfall of this module, currently, is that we must use email to send the content, and PixelPipe does not support html emails. Pixelpipe, in this case, is better used for status-update type bookmarking.
2011-06-01_1535.png

PIXEL PIPE - BOOKMARKING & STATUS UPDATES
In addition to Twitter, we can now use PixelPipe as a bookmarking source. Like remote publishing, we use email to send the status updates to a special pixelpipe email address. This works very well as the title & a link to the original content is sent to all the designated sources. Within BlogSense, we can add as many pixelpipe accounts as we want, and route content to specific pipes by using routing tags. We can also now select which accounts we want associated with our campaigns by selecting and deselecting them inside the campaign editing section.

TWITTER - BOOKMARKING IMPROVEMENTS
Like we mentioned above, we can now select which Twitter account we want associated with an account, as well as create custom hashtags for each account within a campaign. This further opens up our Bookmarking module to more campaign-based quality control practices.

REMOTE PUBLISHING - EMAIL OUT
We now have the capability to export campaign content to an email address. It's as simple as this. If you are interested, watch this video demonstrating how I use this feature with Google Groups.

INFORMATIONAL PIECE ON HOW TO BEGIN A BLOG NETWORK USING BLOGSENSE'S REMOTE PUBLISHING API
[INDENT] Due to popular request, I've attempted to make a two-part video documentation set on how to remote publish to other BlogSense blogs; aka how to have a master hub and autoblog to many other BlogSense blogs.

Part II - [url]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKdAn_hw4CA[/url]

[/INDENT] It's also should be announced that BlogSense no longer supports lifetime licenses. We rather provide 10.00 / mo. licenses and 95.00 / yr. licenses. We also still support single-blog licenses for $20.00ea.

Some major improvements included inside. I?m short on time so I?ll try to run over the improvements quickly.

MANAGE INTERNAL SPIN DATABASE

We can now edit our spin database which will allow for overall personalization and quality control improvements. These features can be found at BlogSense->Toolbox->Miscellaneous Tools->Manage Internal Spin Database

  1. Edit/Add/Remove phrases to phrase sets.
  2. Add new phrase sets.
  3. Export entire spin database in xml format.
  4. Import entire spin database in xml format.

2011-07-11_1348.png

IMPROVED BACKUP SYSTEM
In addition to entire site cloning we can now backup and import BlogSense campaigns. This will help speed things along when transferring the campaigns of a test site to a live

2011-07-11_1350.png

API ACCESS TO THE SPIN DATABASE
We can now use a script to send content to the BlogSense to have it spun and returned ( just like the TBS api). But in addition we can also access this script manually and use it to paste&spin content on the fly. More information here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJ62ObMFEHc

IMPROVEMENTS TO THE REMOTE PUBLISHING API
The BlogSense remote publishing API now accepts the following parameters:

  • post_type
  • cat_id (now accepts a slug as well as an id, and if the remote blog detects that there is no category for the slug indicated it will attempt to auto-create it).

REMOTE PUBLISHING URL REPORT
If you are using BlogSense API?s to publish to remote BlogSense sites, we now keep logs of the remote pages created through these APIs. This is to help those who are using BlogSense to create a remote publishing network to keep track of their backlink. This feature can be found at: BlogSense->Toolbox->Miscellaneous Tools-> Access Remote Publishing Logs

2011-07-11_1351.png

DRAFTED POSTS AND BOOKMARKING
Until now it has gone unnoticed that posts set into ?draft? or ?pending_review? mode were being exempted from any bookmarking. This has been corrected.

CONTROLLING THE POST TYPE

Our automation/autoblogging platform can now control the post_type of campaigns, setting them to posts, pages, or any other custom post_type available.

2011-07-11_1352.png

BLOGSENSE NOW SUPPORTS XML/RPC REMOTE PUBLISHING

Just what the title suggests. We can now use the XML/RPC remote publishing protocol to export content to remote CMSs.

ALRIGHT! THAT?S ALL IN THIS RELEASE!

I?ve a couple of more major things I would like to do including designing and implementing a keyword-list based module similar to the designs of WP Robot and WPTB. For a long time we have focused on RSS and custom sources and bookmarking, which cover a wide array of applications, but it?s about time to take a shot at a keyword based module. We?ll see how it goes.

For those of you who aren?t WP Traffic Tool users yet check it out at (http://www.wptraffictools.com).

Is there a fix price for unlimited sites? Is the 95$ price one time or recurring?

Heya,

Yeah the 95 is a yearly rate, or 10 monthly, or we can one time buy if we are sure that it's somethng we'll be using for a long time out. Each increase is designed to save more money.

Do you have like a trial period? I understand it's a bit of a learning curve compared to WP robot which is fine by me but I want to see how BIG of a curve that is.

For 10bucks a mth and asking for a trial? the scripts he provide does require some learning curve. It is easy to get the hang of it plus he has videos on youtube....:D

Attention BlogSense!

For the longest time the difference between BlogSense and other commercial available automation programs has been that the other?s were powered by keyword lists, where as BlogSense focused on everything else in the world of automation but this (I originally didn?t want to re-invent the wheel and risk appearing as a WP Robot copy cat).

But as I?ve grown as a marketer I?ve seen the value in having such an option and have seen how it can help quickly generate and target content at the same time.

BlogSense now has a keyword list powered automation module making BlogSense the most comprehensive autoblogger on the internet to date.

There is a catch though; rather a weakness. BlogSense is still not a strong provider of content generation shortcodes. We have a couple, but not many. Because of this I recommend using other software?s shortcodes, such as WP Robot?s or WP Mage?s should help perfect any shortcomings inherent in BlogSense to make BlogSense to perfect automation system.

Here is a video introduction to the latest addition:

Use Keywords from WP Traffic Tools or Rank Tracker to power Automation ? New Shortcodes! ? List Management Tools

This latest release is a pretty big one. Lets take a look!

New Shortcodes!

We?ve never had any good article shortcodes, but now we do! We?ve added the following shortcodes to the BlogSense arsenal.

  1. Knol.Google.com
  2. Articlebase
  3. Ezine (may require proxies)
  4. Yahoo?s AssociatedContent.

Use Organic Traffic to Power Keywords Module.

If you use WP Traffic Tools or the  Rank Tracker Plugin then your organic keyword traffic is being recorded in your database. Use this traffic to automatically generate content targeting your natural long tail keywords. With this feature you can build a highly targeted blog that focuses on you long-tail keywords without having to do the research yourself. This is a viral application of autoblogging. I?m interested to see what can be done with Hopefully the features sell themselves.

***NEW*** URL List Management Tools:

  1. RSS Feed(s) to URL List (including keywords)
  2. URL List to URL+Keywords List.

Other Cool New Features

  1. Manually edit script timeout setting for automation run.
  2. Can now disable duplicate content filters for RSS module (For RSS feeds containing one URL that dynamically updates with new content daily).

Guys, BlogSense is nearing perfection thanks to the help of it?s users+ advisers.

If you have ever been dissatisfied with BlogSense maybe these newest updates will entice you back. We?re not completely done yet though. There is still some minor improvements that are in store, and I?ll try to get some more shortcodes in too. But from here on out I?ll be working on improving WP Traffic Tools and also starting on another project I?m hoping to have released sometime this winter.

Thank you for being a customer, hope you enjoy.

Hey Guys, It's been a while since my latest post but BlogSense is still very active and it still respected as a state of the art curation and automation software for Wordpress. Let's take a look at some of the latest updates:

PULL CONTENT FROM ANY SOURCE USING SHORTCODE & KEYWORDS
I've finally added in a new shortcode that will allow BlogSense to attempt to find and source content from any site using a shortcode + keyword combination.
The shortcode looks like this:
{customsource:http://www.amazines.com:%keyword%:1:<div><p><span><font><br><ul><ol><li><b><strong><i><u><table><img><a>}
and the parameters can be defined as so:
p1: Defines the shortcode

p2: Defines URL to pool results from.

p3: Defines the keyword to search the url for results.

p4: Limits how many content items are returned from source.

p5: Defines the HTML tags to preserve.

2011-11-14_1539.png

NEW SHORTCODE - [IFNOIMAGE][/IFNOIMAGE] - ALSO, EXTRA BROKEN IMAGE DEDECTIONS ADDED
We've done a quick update that adds the following:
Broken image detection

In past circumstances, whenever we would use image generation shortcodes within our content postbody sometimes no image would be generated and this would cause a broken image to be left. Until now we've had to circumvent this issue by using 3rd party broken image detection plugins, and luckily it happened so rarely that it was not too big of an issue.

To better perfect our systems we now check for these broken images and remove them before publishing. You may have also noticed that now 3rd party plugin shortcodes are previewable within BlogSense's preview mode.

If no image is detected then...

We also now have a shortcode called [ifnoimage][/ifnoimage] that, if used, checks the postbody to see if any images are present and if they are not then whatever is enclosed within the shortcode is included within the postbody template. This will help ensure our content has images when the syndicated content does not naturally contain any.

Here's an example bit of code that demonstrates how we might use this shortcode:

[IFNOIMAGE]{googleimg:%title_filtered%:1:275px:300px:first}[/IFNOIMAGE]

%postbody%

CREATE CATEGORIES FROM KEYWORDS LIST

We've two new features added into BlogSense along with some inner code improvements. We've added the ability to use a keyword list to create WordPress categories. This used to be a BlogSense feature until it was discontinued about a year ago. Good to have it back!

The other feature is the ability to enable/disable the automatic tagging system on a campaign level. Before we had a singular global setting to manage our auto-tagging strategies. Now we can better control tag behavior.

What can we do with autotagging?

  • Disable auto-tagging entirely.
  • Use Yahoo Terms Extraction to create tags from the post content.
  • Use parts of the title as tags.
  • Use tags already found within the WordPress database, selected at random.
  • Use a custom tag list pasted into a textarea.
  • Control the amount of tags to use for each post.

We can also use CSV tokens to create tags for our CSV Importing module.

BLOGSENSEWP SWITCHES FROM GOOGLE TRANSLATE API TO BING TRANSLATE API
BlogSense supports Bing Translation API!

Hello!

Over the last month, anyone working with the translation features of BlogSense may have noticed that campaigns were halted because of the inability to translate content.

The news related to this phenomenon is that Google has disabled their free API based translation service in favor for a paid translation service.

It is our intention to eventually offer the option to either use Bing's free service or Google's paid service, but for now we have introduced Bing's API based service to restore translation features back to BlogSense users.

Which service is better? I have no clue and have done zero case studies. One would think that because of weath & pride, Google would produce a superior translation service, but hey, Microsoft is a pretty altruistic and powerful company as well. It just might be that Bing's service is superior!

API limitations and throttling

BlogSense does provide an application ID for global use, but there are use limitations available to each APIKey. It might be prudent to grab your own APIKey from Bing.com. BlogSense provides a settings area within the Automation->Global Settings area where you can paste in and overwrite the default api key with your personal api key.

2011-12-08_1230.png

In BlogSense 9.9.8.1 we?ve added a new shortcode that helps BlogSense users tap into the Traffic Kaboom! content network. This API is being called Content Kaboom!

What is Traffic Kaboom? Traffic Kaboom is a large private resource sharing service where users leverage multiple blog networks, article directories, social accounts, and other advanced distribution services to promote user submitted content.

From the words of it?s founder, Jason Potash:
Traffic Kaboom is a traffic source that does not rely exclusively on Google or any other search engine. The concept behind Traffic Kaboom is simple. We provide a syndication service. You click a few buttons, fill in some information? and then we ?drip-feed? and distribute your article & video content to several thousand good quality(human reviewed) sites that our syndication partners have owned since 2006.
Content Kaboom! is the result of an API developed to help maximize the distribution potential of it?s users? submitted content. Jason Potash was kind enough to approach BlogSense and offer it?s content services to us for free.

Also, from speaking with Jason Potash, he says that 200-300 articles are submitted by their users daily for syndication, the articles are moderated for quality, and the content storage database truncates all content older than 60 days in order to keep the distribution selection fresh? at any given time the content database contains ~17,000 user submitted articles.

Content Kaboom as an article generation shortcode.

BlogSense has never had a reliable article generation shortcode. We?ve tried, but most quality article services have advanced bot protections that required users who wanted to leverage their services to use proxies? and that?s messy. For the most part if we wanted to import articles we?ve had to use the overused WP Robot article shortcode, or BlogSense?s custom source shortcode (which was difficult for some people to use). The Content Kaboom shortcode will become our first stable keyword based article generation tool.

I look at this as a great success for BlogSense users looking to generate content rather than re-syndicate content (BlogSense has many different applications in the realm of automation and we have to look after them all).
