I first approached jstover77 in the first week of September to inquire about his services. In the initial conversations, he gave the impression that there would likely be movement in the first month, that the keywords aren't "super competitive". He mentioned working with legal and real estate niches which are far more competitive and that my niche would be relatively easy due to its lack of competitiveness. He also offered to do an audit on the homepage as well but after first order was placed, he weaseled out of it.

This becomes a recurring theme as when I reached out multiple times to John, he often ignored my questions or flat out insulted me. The man has an undeserved big ego and often likes to brag about his big clients. Definitely the least approachable of all the sellers I've dealt with. You end up feeling like he's doing you a favor for paying him. You can see evidence of this in this thread too, where he insults people and calls them names. If you're not dropping $5,000 a month, he'll make it known to you that you're not worth his time. This is in contrast to other way bigger and reputable sellers like splishplash.

But all that aside, ultimately we all pay because we want some kind of results.

He estimated it would take 20-40 links to go from #10 to #1-3. Thus far 25 of them have gone live and well, the results speak for themselves.

For context, the first order went live September 10th per John's own admission and 2 more orders went live, on October 10th and November 7th. I let John control the anchor text, where to link them, and drip rate deferring to his supposed expertise.

After all this money and time wasted, the question I asked myself was, is throwing $3000-4000 to get this kind of "result" justified? Attached are positions for all keywords, my overall impressions, my overall clicks, and my targeted keyword during the time I dealt with this vendor.

Sigh. Nigel ordered a total of 30 links from me, 20 of which have been placed and 10 more that are in the works (which he tried to cancel mid-order). I never guarantee any results with SEO. I can give educated guesses, but that is about it. I told Nigel he would most likely see an increase after the first round of links, with some regression likely to happen before they anchor. That is literally what happened. Yes, my guess was 30-50 links may get him to the top 3, but we'll have no idea until I see how his website is moving. I was very explicit with him that there are no guarantees and I was only giving my professional opinion.

I have been very patient with Nigel over the last 2 or so months. He contacts me almost daily on Skype and I tried to answer his questions as soon as I could. Anyone who has ever dealt with me understands that I go above and beyond with my clients, no matter the order size. It was no different with Nigel. He only started getting a bad attitude with me, because I wouldn't cancel and refund him his last order, which I've already started placing links for. I told him I couldn't give a refund once the order was already being worked on with a few of the links already placed. I make this very clear in my TOS.

Regardless of the above, the fact is, Nigel ordered backlinks from me and I delivered them. This isn't a full-service SEO, even though many times I will try to help my clients as much as I can in order for them to have a greater chance of succeeding.

Also, although I don't guarantee any ranking increases, here is where my rank tracker shows the keywords he was targeting. This is with 20 total links, with another 10 pending (which will most likely increase his rankings further). I also want to add that his screenshots are misleading because 1) GSC shows average rank over time and 2) his business is seasonal, so traffic will decrease in the colder months.
