Hey guys!

One quick question, I´m structuring my blog. I do have 3-4 categories in which i want to fit my blog post.

My categories structures is like this
Blog/ Cat A(actual categories as a sub)
Blog/ Cat B
Blog Cat C

i do have read two things that i do not know how to actually implement(or which one has higher priority):

-Categories should give google a better idea of what is the content about
-your targed Keyword should be as close to the left as possible

so, given my structure, which permalink would you think is better to uses for my blog posts?

-Mysite.xyz/blog/Cat A/name of the post
-Mysite.xyz/name of the post

thanks guys

I guess this is better.
yoursite.xxx/year/month/post

I guess this is better.
yothinkxxx/year/month/post
can you elaborate? please? that´s a permalink structure that i didn´t even thought about, even i was thinking in putting a plugin that eliminates the date once the post is a year old(Neil patel do not have a date on his post)

If you're going to post every day and bumping your blog it's better to use that structure I mentioned above. If you wanna publish seldom it's going to be this structure. yoursite.xxx/post
What platform you are using for?

my idea is to post about once a week.
Wordpress.
The idea is sell online courses... the post will mostly side to youtube videos on the matter

Ditch it... Seriously. RankBrain can now detect context so 'nudging' Googlebot re context through categories don't work as well anymore.

Instead, use one keyword titles and no categories

Most Affiliate sites I've seen use the "site.xyz/post-title" format so there has to be a reason for that. I recommend sticking with that.

that was my initial permalink structure...... i think i should get back to that

Category name in permalink helps organize big blogs. It's a part of silo structure.

What is silo structure?

Silo structure is about categorizing sub-niches in a blog.

Suppose you have a health site. "Health" is the main niche now.
And you want to cover sub-niche like - "Fitness" "skin care "anti-aging" "hair loss" .

So, Adding a category tag in permalink will help the blog posts organized. This is what Google wants you to do. Organize your site navigation. It's useful for sitemap and Google index.
Also, it will help you rank on Google. A well structured site, is a strong signal for Google ranking.

- If you want to cover multiple sub-niche under one blog. Add category tag in permalink.

- If you just focus on affiliate site and earning . You can just follow simple permalink structure.

Good luck!

Good to find this thread to understand the permalinks.

that leads me to another question...... as i told before ....i have this structure Blog(Category)/Cat A(subcategory)
do this makes sense? or category blog is useless?

Understand this:-
The people who have business websites and blog is a part of their website they do their parmalink like this

www.abc.com/blog/this-is-my-first-blog

If your site is a blog (focused on a single niche , that has no sub-niche, or it's a small blog, no plan to make it big in future)

www.abc.com/this-is-my-first-blog

If your blog is a main niche and you are covering multiple sub-niches under this, then

www.abc.com/sub-niche/this-is-my-first-blog-of-this-subniche

Some bigger blogs those have too many niche, sub-niches to cover, they do like this

www.abc.com/niche/sub-niche/sub-sub-niche/this-is-my-first-blog-of-this-sub-sub-niche

----------------------------------

The permalink structure you should go for depends upon your own requirement. Giving a silo structure to permalink allow big blogs to easy navigation and that is a signal for Google ranking!

Good luck!
