Permalink Structure Help

Hello everyone,

Currently working with a client and I found something I had never seen before in its URL.

Categories, poor SILOs, I'm used to that.

But this website for some reason goes as follows:

domainname.com/postname/sahdlashdlkasd

Literally a bunch of random numbers and letters.

I'm going to start the project soon so I don't have full access to see what is going on, but I would definitely love getting straight to that and see what's going on.

Questions:

1. What is that? If I remove the random letters I even get redirected.
2. Is it worth redirecting to a "regular" post structure or would it cause drastic slowdowns due to a good number of 301 redirects?

1. He added random strings in permalinks. Before you remove you need to install any redirect plugin or redirect match string in htaccess.
2. When you have unique content you can always do anything but mostly try to avoid too much link redirections which might lead to door way pages penalty in google.

301 plugin is best for redirection but don't use this plugin too much. It can effect your website

Thing is, it's a whole company website and it seems is generalized.

I'm actually considering leaving it like that in an attempt to avoid too many redirections.

Why'd you decide to use the most common permalinks structure, and then adding it a bunch of code

i think developer is trying to show-off his skills to company guys that he did Token ID system AHAHHAHAHA. It would be more realistic if he has done string rand token based

Literally have no idea on what you said.

I'll take it as the developer messed up when creating the website for some unknown reason.

If it was me i will do this:

1. if the website have a lot of posts, leave it. you will kill the website with redirects for sure.
2. if not, change a few per week, and so on until your done

I just wished it shouldn't come down to option one, some website developers or managers improvise way too much at times
