Just wanted to get everyone's opinion on which of the following permalink structures for Wordpress yields the best results and why: /%postname%/ or /%category%/%postname%/ As of yet, my testing with both these methods has yet to prove anything conclusive. Thanks!
I think that it depends on your blog / website actually. What is it about? For example, for my movie website, I use /%category%/%postname%/ because I included the keyword movie as a main category so it should help SEO (not sure though)
I post articles on my blog and the best permalink is /%post_id%/%postname%/ and is working great for indexing.
Yeas that's right. If you're making a niche blog/website then go with /%category%/%postname%/ it's more keywords rich. /%postname%/ is good for most blogs.
I just use %postname% Because I know there will not be overlapping in the titles, however if I was running a show site some names might overlap besides it would help SEO if in the season of Dexter it had /%category%/%postname%/ So it depends what site it is, but I usually like 99% of the time would stick with just %postname% because shorter, more human readable URL's make G love you more maybe I take it to the extreme in this case but I highly doubt it.
I've started to use these... depends ont eh blog though /%post_id%/%postname%.html /%post_id%/%category%/%postname%.html using post_id more often now because i read a really good explanation on here of how post_id actually may may your blog faster...
