Perfmatters and Cache/Compression?

For those using Perfmatters, how are you sorting compression and cache?

Generally 99.99% of the servers have both cache and compression modules enabled (like expires and gzip for Apache) and generally with a .htaccess file this can be sorted out manually, but is a pain in the ass for me (with Nginx is a little bit more tricking and with Litespeed I'm not confident how this is done because I've never used it)

I used for ages WP-Rocket, and this is probably one of the things they have been sorting in the background from their inception without even explicitly enabling anything.

But for some reason, Perfmatters have decided to ignore this.

So, how are you sorting it?

I use Perfmatters with LiteSpeed, best convo on the internet.

With that, you still need the LiteSpeed Cache plugin to make it work, right?

But I'm seeking other alternatives that don't involve LiteSpeed, specially for Nginx, that I prefer over LiteSpeed.

HI Roger, I just got turned on to this combo. I installed Litespeed and have that rockin pretty good, was wondering if you'd be so kind to share your Perfmatters settings? Here's the settings I am using on Litespeed:


LiteSpeed Cache settings:

General: Request a Domain Key and connect it with a QUIC.cloud account in the General settings. Guest Mode - ON, Guest Optimization - ON, input your server IP in the open field.

Cache Control Settings: Everything is switched on. Make sure the browser cache is on. Everything else I kept default.

Image Optimization: I have everything switched on except for Remove Original Backups, Optimize Losslessly, and WebP for Extra srcset in the Image Optimization Settings.

Page Optimization: CSS: CSS Minify - ON, CSS Combine - OFF, Generate UCSS - OFF, UCSS Inline - ON, CSS Combine External and Inline - ON, Inline CSS Async Lib - OFF, Font Display Optimization - Swap.

JS Settings: JS Minify - ON, JS Combine OFF, JS Combine External and Inline - ON, Load JS Deferred - Deferred.

HTML Settings: HTML Minify - ON, DNS Prefetch Control - ON, Remove Query Strings - OFF, Remove Google Fonts - OFF, Remove WordPress Emoji - ON, Remove Noscript Tags - ON.

Turn on Lazy Load Images

Tuning: Turn on Optimize for Guest Only

Database: Clean the database and convert any tables listed there. (make sure you don't need any current drafts or trashed posts, it will remove those.)

These settings worked for me without breaking anything on Elementor sites, and I got my page speeds to 90+. It may be different for you depending on other plugins you have installed so use with caution.
