My partner just got this on his Skype account, talking to some software developer:

"Listen Jose. I run the show of my products, not my customers.
I tell them simply, "it you don't like it, tough""

How can this guy even sell software with this freaking attitude?

Depends on how unique his software is. If it is the only show in the room then he can do what he wants until someone else creates a similar product.

Does the guy have really good software? Sometimes people will pay and deal with an attitude because they really need the software, I know I have. The owner knows that and I think this makes them act how they want.

It could be someone trying to take an 'Im awesome and dont need business' approach to get your partner interested.

If he has really good software that is so good that people are willing to deal with his attitude just let me know because I will just build the same product and offer better customer service and take all his business.

No matter how good you think your product is in todays competitive business environment if you dont provide good customer service there is always a guy right around the corner that will offer the same or better product with better customer service just waiting to take your customers.

110% true

I'm as arrogant as hell sometimes but there is always someone waiting in
the wings who dumps me back on my ass again.
The good thing is I have some really humble friends that remind me
"The people you pass on the way up will be the same people you pass on the way down".

Whats up with you and making most of your posts rhyme ?

Perhaps, but that is not always the case. There is also the possibility that the owner doesn't even want to deal with customers that ask for too much help and this is his way of not having to do that.

Costs aren't only in terms of money, but also time, work, etc. His poor service increases the cost of purchase for customers who want support, but on the flip-side, his attitude reduces the cost for himself of running his business.

The customer can have Any colour - so long as it's black.

Sometimes you can be very successful by being firm with customers.

Yeah really it all depends on what this guy does. You know there are alot of things that I do that just because someone pays me some money doesn't mean that I'm their slave forever.

You must read some pretty crap poetry then mate.

It's part of Mnemonics, and ideal for remembering stuff
arrange things in a little ditty and you never forget them.
You can pull off complicated tasks just by remembering which
order to apply things.

Before the days of IM I used to buy shit by mail order and one of the first things I bought was Dr Bruno Furst?s Course in Memory and Concentration Then I bought Napoleon Hill's classic Think and Grow Rich,
then Stuart Goldsmith's Midas Method.
I cut my teeth in direct mail long before the Internet
Because I remembered shit.
I've been hooked on marketing ever since, online, offline, upline and downline.

Now that didn't rhyme did it?

No matter what he sales or what is his product is, the only rule is being decent with customers(or even to whom, who is interested). It is not the f***ing buddies who flatters saying, {You are genius|You are damn good|I want it for free...lol}...it is the customer who values your work.
