Hey guys, I figured I'd share with you a few psychological tips that you can use in your own promotional campaigns online or in general when conversing with people. EVERYBODY CARES ABOUT THEMSELVES No matter what people say, everyone cares even a little bit about themselves and how people think of them. Take Facebook and Myspace for example, as a test I used 4 different accounts with totally random profiles, names etc. I sent out close to 30,000 invites and about 90% of these invites came back accepted. Now you must think what the hell? I seriously don't even know you, why are you accepting my friend request. It's a basic status thing, you have more friends you seem cooler to the rest of your "friends". Sad thing is it wasn't just the youngsters doing this but people aged as high as 50!. EVERYBODY WANTS TO BE ACKNOWLEDGED & "HELP" Now this quite important, people tend to like it when they get noticed, they enjoy being the seeing the center of attention despite how much they hate on the people who are. You need to make each and everyone of your customers feel as though they are important and NEEDED. Structure your sentences with things like "we need your help" "only with your help can we succeed" etc. These are very strong calls to action and significantly do motivate people if you present what you're saying well. APPEARANCE Now this is quite a basic one but I feel as though I still need to go over it. People respond better to people they can either relate to or want to be more like in the future. Present yourself or a fake identity as an attractive, successful person with high status. Doesn't matter whether it's fake screenshots of adsense cheques, big houses or big breasted women. Make yourself stand out. A great example of this would be "The Rich Jerk" and all of his commercials with fast cars, big breasted women and nice houses. CONTROVERSY Be controversial but back it up and end it with valid points. You want to catch people off guard then make them find solace in you, thus making them more dependent on you. MAKE THEM WORK On occasion you should actually limit access to your product/yourself. This relates back to the principle of wanting what you can't have. They will start to try harder to actually get whatever it is you're "selling". Eventually when you deliver, these people will be significantly more loyal both to you and the brand. This works well on forums with moderated approval. Not to mention life outside the computer. I have pages and pages of more stuff to add but obviously I just don't have the time, might write a book later on. Hope it helped at least a few of you, if you have any questions feel free to ask here or to PM me.
