Penny Auctions- Do they qualify towards Defect Rate?

Ok I see many people on ebay selling auctions for .01 and up. This is great since most buyers buy these just to add a feedback count to thier account. As a dropshipper, your defect rate can kill an account. If you get a few out of stocks and cancel an order or they show up late your account can get a 5%+ defect rate fast. BUT in theory, if you sell 5 to 10 of these PENNY auctions daily, then the few refunds and out of stock items you have will not matter.


I see other sellers doing this penny auction trick so there is eviedence it will work. BUT I don't trust ebay at all... it would make me feel better hearing from someone who has done this. All my accounts are doing it now, but with ebay's shady ass system they hide which transactions and how many transactions will impact my defect rate till the following month. Those bastards also do this later, once your defect rate is over 5% they give you warnings the following month but it is too late to make adjustments, you can't go back in time and change the results of the previous months.


Anyway, since this unfair defect rate came into affect in August 2014, this system has been a nightmare. IF these penny auctions can help pad the numbers with transactions, then it means an honest dropshiper can still be profitable with just a little more work.

Remember, eBay looks for patterns. Run a bunch of penny auctions and then start listing iPhones = immediate banning once a human reviews your account

Of course... but I already sell a bunch of real stuff. But when I sell 10 power saws a day and bring in $900+ a day, and then have 30 issues for the month right now my defect rate kills me.

The majority of my sales are REAL and profitable.. very few are these crappy penny auctions.

UPDATE: I just sold like 4 of these on one of my accounts this morning and after a few hours the TRANSACTIONS did show up on the seller dashboard. So the answer to my question is yes, this BS auction trick will help with defect rate.

if you're doing 10 transactions a day and you get 30 bad transactions in a month you probably deserve to get banned.

LOL too funny. That is 10 Times 30 days equals 300 orders. 30 "bad transactions' would not ok if they were all bad. I would agree.
But when 3 to 5 are the customer gave you their old address, 3 to 5 are UPS broke the box... ect ect... then it is BS.
