Hey guys,
It seems like this name was given by searcheingineland.com. They quoted the text from nowhere, there are no official announcements of penguin update on any google's sites. Plus, penguin reconsideration request form is totally fake. I can create such in a few minutes and anyone can do the same. Google would never review or ask for reconsideration request via form which is outside webmaster tools.
Here is the original post by searchengineland:

They said it's official name, but they didn't show the source, so it seems like searchengineland just gave the name to google update and people believed in it.
Let's take a look at some queries:
site:googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com "penguin" - no results.
site:insidesearch.blogspot.com "penguin" - no results
site:google.com "penguin update" -site
lus.google.com - results show some guys posting about "penguin update" but there is no any google employee posting about it or any official google announcements which gives this update a name "penguin".
Penguin update is a total fake. It's just webspam update.
Searchengineland, stop joking. And "reconsideration form" which is shared on the internet is total BS too. Searchengineland first published it on their new post about penguin update here:
http://searchengineland.com/penguin...by-mistake-googles-got-a-form-for-that-119698
And here is the form:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dEVxdmdRWFJRTjRoLWZVTHZkaTBQbkE6MQ
Lol, why you believe it's official form? Google would suggest doing reconsideration request through webmaster tools, not this shitty page which can be created by anyone. All the form submits go directly to searchengineland or any other person who is owner of this form, but believe me - it's not Google.
If this form was owned by Google - they would share it on webmaster central or inside search blog. But it was shared by searchengineland and tweeted by Matt.
Of course, Matt Cutts tweeted about penguin update and linked to this form but lol, I think he is just rolling on the floor looking at all this people believing in this shit which is created by searchengineland.
Don't submit the form - it's BS and it has nothing to do with Google. And please, stop calling this update "penguin" it's just stupid and Danny Sullivan is just kidding on us.
Anyways, name doesn't mean anything, effects are real and people got drops, I got it too, but why would we believe in this bullshit and give searchengineland rights to joke and lie to us?
